There are traders out to make a profit everyday, they will sell the share down and pick it up later in the day. Some will sell it down in order to accumulate this share on the cheap. You can either join them to sell the share when it is high and buy when the share is low or just hold and wait for the announcement. You need the experience and the skill of a day trader in order to trade daily therefore it is a lot safer for normal investors to have a longer time frame in holding the share. It is a waiting game. Dividend, take it as a bonus in holding the share, it is still better than putting your money in the bank.
Cimb chief exec Badlisyah Abdul Thani said cimb have to pursue a larger balance sheet through the merger or something else. He did not specify what this something else is, as anything else would take a much longer time for cimb to achive it's objective. Time is money. For example, issuing new share without the proportionate increase in profit will dilute the eps of cimb and if cimb were to borrow this money, cimb have to pay interest. By bringing in rhb and mbsb, they will contribute towards the enlarge entity's profit, expertise, cost saving, customer base, brand name and the financial muscle to compete globally and in providing new services. The pros of this merger out weight the cons, that is why Nasir proposed the merger in the first place. The only obstacle is Aabar. Judging by the increase in volume and spike in share prices of cimb, rhb, mbsb and osk around the 18th and 19th of August before the final announcement, I would say it is highly likely that the merger has been agreed on.The next step as Nasir said, is to present this proposal to the shareholders. Incidentally, there were also an increase in volume and share prices of the 4 entities before the merger announcement back in July. Osk started on 24th. June, Rhb on 20th. June, Cimb on 24th. June and Mbsb on 27th. June. My prediction is based on information that is available to everyone. Anyone can do a bit of calculated risk when investing. From what I have been reading about your comments, I can see that everyone has common sense.
Conlusion mbsd will going up loh until how much dont know yet....but know very hard to breake 2.50... if breake fly lio loh waiting for big shark to come...hahha
The merger proposal will be presented to shareholders that is why EPF would like to vote on it. Rhb is objecting because it holds less than 10 percent.
wanna ask the expert here, since dividend is given, 11 is the Ex-dividend, 15 is the last date of lodgement and payable is on 30 Sep? If i sell on 16 of sep, can i still get the dividend?
The only thing I recalled with OSK last time was the merger between OSK Securities and RHB Securities. ALthough OSK gained quite a bit from it, minority shareholders get nothing. Mind you, no dividend, no appreciation of counter price even though the NTA is more than RM2.30. It just stayed below RM2 for the next 2 years until now. Hence, in this merger, OSK still can choose not to reward the shareholders. So , be careful on your hope of getting a fat cheque from OSK.
Without the investment arm, osk became a small company and big investment funds have a policy of not investing in these small companies. Ong used this as an opportunity to take osk private when the share was sold down as he could see the intrinsic value in the stock. Now, he said osk will diversify by acquiring new business. Osk property will come into the picture naturally. Profit wll increase more than if osk were to receive dividends from rhb shares. With more profit, more dividend can be given. What do you think will happen to osk share price? Ong can use rhb shares as collateral. Osk does not have to issue new share therefore no dilution in eps. Before he knew 7.36 per rhb share was too cheap to be given away at that time. There were potential increase in rhb share price to be had. He is what he is today because he has the fore sight to see this, that was why he said he was in it for the long run. At the end of the day he is a businessman, he did not keep rhb shares because he fell in love with them. Just like today, some investors panic when no announcement was made. They sold towards the end of the afternoon and afew took advantage of this by selling down the share to 2.26 and they have to buy the share back up to 2.30 at the end of the day. You could see how volume jumped from around 400k towards the end of the afternoon to 757k at the end of the session.
The question is whether Ong will share his 1st price lottery ticket with the minority shareholders. The dividend was flat for the past two years even with more earning from RHB Capital. Gheekong, you may want to verify on the dividends again. I might be incorrect in this.
Osk with it's current business does not have the cash flow to increase divi. Look at cash flow statement. That is why looking forward ong needs to acquire new business. Rhb shareholders have been complaining about the amount of divi received. Don't forget ong will benefit from osk increase in divi. If osk were to stand still, opportunity would be lost just by holding rhb shares for it's divi. Who will benefit most from the increase in osk share price? If ong were to take osk private in the future, most or all of the minority shareholders now know how much osk is worth.
It is a lot easier to sell 2.8% of the enlarged entity where there is a demand for it than the 9.9% of rhb now without affecting the price of the share. Ong can sell to institution investors. Do keep in mind 2.8% of the newly merged entity, where cimb and mbsb profits are brought in, will not dilute eps as much as some think. More importantly it is future profit everyone should be thinking about. I am assuming rhb is taking over the other two by issuing more shares.
Rhb volume today was 4.424m. On 9th. July it was 1.443m and on the 10th. July it was 3.055m. You only get this type of volume when something is going to happen. Mbsb volume today was13.92m. On 9th. July it was 8.328m. Cimb on 5th. Sept was 11.423m. On 20th. August it was12.857m, news out on 22nd. August that rhb might be the holding company. On 7th. July was 6.157m,on 8th. July was 12.566m and on the 9th. July was 7.6mil. I hope you don't have long to wait.
Don't forget what season investor stockraider said, you have to understand where the company is heading. Ong has plans for osk. Even if no merger were to take place, osk is worth hanging on to unless you have a better stock to buy. Opportunity like this is few and far between. Stockraider said, you need to take a bit of a risk, like a gambler, to be a true master. It is calculated risk which he is referring to. He researched his findings, his reasoning is based on this and he has the confidence to stand by it. I know it is so near but yet so far.
If RHBCAP issue new shares at RM 9.80, that means CIMB will exchange shares with RHBCAP at RM 9.80 per share from RHBCAP. Which means OSK has an opportunity to reach RM 2.50 per share.
Back in April, Ong had mentioned that OSK will venture into new business, and hinted that it will be their property arm that they want to develop further, which I believe taking the footstep of TA Global Bhd (TA global had gone international and currently fresh from buying Trump hotel).
Back to the story of OSK, I believe that Ong might possibly know that the merger of Cimb-Rhb-MBSB is coming. EPF and Khazanah might have approached him to get the support for the merger before making official announcement last july. Wether the merger will be succesful or not, is highly dependant on current discussion and we'll know early next month. If it indeed happen, OSK will likely be the biggest beneficiaries due to the lockhorn between EPF and Aabar. Post merger of CIMB-RHB-MBSB, Osk will cease to be substantial shareholder (below 5%). Osk can continue to keep the stake in the larger entity or sell to it to either EPF, Khazanah, Mitsubishi or even Aabar to consolidate their shareholding. I believe Ong might want to keep the stake and received higher dividend from bigger bank entity. OSK can even sell the 2.8% stake at higher price when the merger is completed.
Now, comes the exciting part. After the conclusion of the merger deal btwn cimb-Rhb-mbsb, Ong might want to announce his plan for OSK as he had mentioned back in April. Market rumours is that OSKProp/PJdev will merge/acquire each other. However i personally believe that OSKprop will be taken private by OSK through share swap, with PJDev absorbed later. Ong had tried to privatize OSKprop before at cheap valuation but he failed. I believe he might learn from past experience and he will likely to offer oskprop at high price to get more osk shares.
Ong will have tighter grip on Osk by exchanging his 73.8% stake in oskprop to Osk and enjoy lucrative dividend from bigger cimb. The dividend can be ploughed on acquiring more shares in pjdev. besides the acquiring of OSKprop will address the issue of lack of main business by OSK, especially after Cimb-Rhb-mbsb merger. This year has been good for both Oskprop and Pjdev, with Oskprop is expected to double their profit (annualized EPS approximate 40cent) and PJDev benefit from the sale of Menara PJD. Both company are owned by Ong and likely to be developed further to be international developer.
Ong might sell 50% of the merged entity. Osk holding takes over osk property. Ong takes osk holding private. Game over. Both osk holding and osk property taken private by ong, objective accomplished.
Rhb 1.4 book value. Book value should be based on FY 14 forecast which is around 10.00. Remember Rhb will be on to 4th qtr next month. Book value on 30th June,14.is over and done with.
