PERSONALLY I BECAME VERY TIRED OF HOLDING SO LONG HOPING AND WAITING FOR ITS DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE CURRENT YEAR.
DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE WAS NO DIVIDEND WHEN ITS 2Q/HALF YEAR RESULTS WAS RELEASED. DECIDED TO WAIT TILL NOVEMBER FOR ITS 3Q RESULTS AND HOPE TO GET A DIVIDEND THEN.
BUT LAST FRIDAY'S ANNOUNCEMENT THAT IT HAD USED RM280M FOR EARLY REDEMPTION OF ITS MTN LOAN MADE ME WONDER IF THIS USAGE OF ITS CASH WAS AT THE EXPENSE OF PAYING A DIVIDEND COME NOVEMBER (AS LESS CASH WILL AVAILABLE FOR DIVIDEND PAYMENT).
WITH THIS DOUBT AND BCOS OF THE MANY MAJOR ECONOMIC/POLITICAL UNCERTAINTIES NEXT MONTH (USA ELECTION AND INTEREST RATE HIKE N BERSIH5)
I FINALLY LIQUIDATED MY TROP

Vivocom’ entry into affordable housing will support earnings

KUCHING: Vivocom International Holdings Bhd’s (Vivocom) entry into the affordable housing market will support earnings, the research arm of MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd (MIDF Research) observes, given that there is ready demand for affordable housing in Perak and East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

According to MIDF Research in a corporate update, Vivocom management aspires to diversify the group’s project portfolio and improves its working capital via affordable housing projects.

“While an affordable housing project generally provides lower single-digit margin for contractors, nonetheless it generates orderbook backlog for longer-term as well as tighter contractual obligations,” the research arm said.

“This would help to match Vivocom’s total construction revenue and earnings with cash inflows from predictable progress billings.”

MIDF Research highlighted that the recently clinched Kinta Valley and Tronoh affordable housing projects are crucial as a learning curve to provide experience in value engineering, traction of gaining tender advantage and wide content application of industrialised building system (IBS) in constructing affordable housing units.

“Vivocom is upbeat especially in East Coast of Malaysia where the demand of affordable housing exceeds supply,” the research arm said.

It added that Vivocom’s management has indicated an expanding IBS content for building construction citing cost advantage as well as time savings as primary drivers.

In MIDF Research’s view, Vivocom’s interest in affordable housing segment comes as no surprise as the State Government of Perak has announced in January 2016, the rolling out of 10,000 units of affordable housing by 2018.

“The Perak Housing Department currently has a waiting list of more than 12,000 applicants for its affordable housing schemes.

“Another example is Terengganu, which has a waiting list of 56,000 applicants since end of 2015,” the research arm noted.

Meanwhile, on the strength on the group’s balance sheet, MIDF Research believed that Vivocom presents a compelling risk/reward opportunity amidst the pressured share price.

Vivocom’s orderbook of RM3.5 billion is at all time high or approximately 48-month orderbook backlog (38-fold financial year 2015 (FY15) construction revenue cover which is the highest in the research arm’s coverage).

Premised on the group’s FY15 working capital/net income cover of 12.1-fold and diligent FY15 working capital/orderbook cover of 0.03-fold, the research arm viewed that Vivocom’s balance sheet fundamental strength is set to outweigh the risk of heavy orderbook execution.

On to its FY16/FY17 earnings estimates, MIDF Research has altogether reiterated earnings projections which are underpinned by a growing orderbook of circa 15 per cent which will swell to more than RM4 billion based on affordable housing projects that Vivocom has tendered.

MIDF Research has also reaffirmed its ‘buy’ recommendation with a target price of RM0.63 per share based on FY17 sum-of-parts (SOP) methodology on an implied prospective price earnings ratio (PER) of 13-fold which is on the lower end of the research arm’s small to mid-cap construction PER range of 10-fold to 14-fold (up 1.3 standard deviation above the mean of 12).

GIVEN THE RIGHT GOOD NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS (HIGHER 3Q RESULTS/PROFITS PLUS DIVIDENDS, TROP SHARE PRICE CAN MOVE UP.

MY PAST HAPPY EXPERIENCE. A FEW TIMES BOUGHT AROUND 1.02 SOLD BETWEEN 1.18 TO 1.28. IN SOME CASES ALSO REAPED ITS DIVIDENDS AS WELL.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 24): Tropicana Corp Bhd posted a net profit for the third financial quarter ended Sept 30, 2016 (3QFY16) of RM34.8 million, down 77% from RM151.78 million a year ago due to the absence of one-off gain on disposals.

In a statement today, Tropicana said the decrease in profitability was due to one-off gain disposals of properties and a subsidiary of RM161.7 million registered in the previous corresponding period.

Revenue for 3QFY16 came in at RM357.08 million, 46% higher than its 3QFY15 revenue of RM244.58 million fuelled by higher revenue recognition across key projects within the Klang Valley and northern region.

The group also declared a dividend of 2.5 sen per share. The dividend consists of an electable portion of 2.5 sen which can be elected to be reinvested in new ordinary shares of Tropicana in accordance with the Dividend Reinvestment Scheme. The book closure date will be announced at a later date

For the nine months ended Sept 30, 2016 (9MFY16) Tropicana reported a net profit of RM83.28 million, from RM194.23 million a year ago.

Revenue for 9MFY16 came in 5.7% higher at RM1 billion, compared with RM947.83 million a year ago.

“With an unbilled sales of RM2.6 billion, the group remains well-positioned to achieve its full-year sales target of RM1.2 billion, anchored by encouraging demand for its developments in prime locations, coupled with its 17 on-going projects and strategic approaches to unlock the value of over 1,300 acres of prime land with potential gross development value in excess of RM50 billion,” Tropicana said.

While prospects for the property sector remains challenging in the short-term, the group believes that there will still be demand for landed properties and integrated developments in prime locations with accessibility to good amenities and attractive pricing.

Going forward, Tropicana’s strategy will remain to be market driven and adapted to market demand.

In the last quarter of FY16, Tropicana is offering tailored financial schemes, a 0% interest plan to ease buyers’ cash flow burden and help them overcome down payment issues, where buyers can opt to settle the differential sum, which is the difference between the purchaser's loan and the balance purchase price via instalments over six months, 12 months or 24 months, depending on the property purchased across six premier developments in the Klang Valley.

The properties are Parkfield Residences and Ridgefield Residences, the second and third phases of Tropicana Heights in Kajang; Bayan Residences and Cheria Residences, the second and third phases of Tropicana Aman in Kota Kemuning; Paloma Serviced Residences, the second residential phase of Tropicana Metropark in Subang Jaya; and Dianthus Serviced Residences, the fourth phase and final tower of Tropicana Gardens in Kota Damansara

Tropicana shares were unchanged at RM1 today, for a market capitalisation of RM1.43 billion.
