P/B Parkson 0.25 means you buy RM 1 million value of house for only RM 250K.

Transmile is like AirAsia so much from Parkson. Parkson own RM 3 billion worth of properties.

Parkson was one a BURSA KLCI (most illustrious top 30 companies in Malaysia!). But how has it fell. Failed to transform with the times. If management just devoted RM20mil to developing a solid online platform for SEA and China, Parkson would be in a much better place.

Alas, the question now comes - do you see Parkson existing in 5 yrs time, or do you see them bungkus? This is the litmus test. If Parkson were to continue existing beyond the next 5 yrs, then the share price cannot remain at this level. It is simply impossible, cause Parkson will bungkus in 5 yrs time unless they can change course and reach sustained profitability.

My initial idea was to buy a RM0.64 when the macro sentiments were changing in April 2017 (positive macros for retail sales). The story hasn't changed. I said I will hold for 2 quarters. Now is just one quarter. No sell unless the story changes and the next quarter shows marked deterioration. At the same time I will refrain from doubling down and buying more. As Peter Lynch said, the only thing worse than buying a failing company, is doubling down on that investment as share prices tumble.

When someone idiot they sell not care whether gain or loss. Might be IBs' since they shy to announce. If William Cheng disposed Parkson no way he can escape without announcing. He disposed Lion Ind when bankers chase. No wonder he so rich.

No wonder many youngsters bankrupt or in mire debts. They don't care cutting loss to chase something else very high. Rich people did the opposite buy low sell high.

Parkson is a good case study.
It is drifting downwards without any support level, everyday low just like Tesco slogan.

You know characteristics of drifting counter?
Unless sudden sharp fall with a surge in volume (associated with forced selling), or WC step down, or WC decide to sell all PRGL assets, or PRA sold to third party, or engaging external management consultant like Mc Kinsey to have organization restructuring, share price will drift downwards everyday.

Why not WC using internal management team to conduct organization restructuring?
Reasons:
1. Interference from WC.
2. Internal management teams are paid peanuts, so all are monkeys. Monkeys can only run monkey business.
3. Management consultants will be made accessible to all business entities within the group. What asset to dispose off, what asset to merge, how to cut operating cost, how to improve cash flow via fresh capital infusion, which dead wood to be removed, how to enforce and strengthen company policy statements, how to make CEO responsible and accountable, how to down size and optimization.
4. Management consultants will just make recommendations.
They will have lesser consideration on one off losses, but more on turn around.
Implementation all depends on will and wisdom of WC.
5. WC should place more trust on external expert recommendation, rather than seeking advice from his internal management team (all monkeys because paid with peanuts). Monkeys cannot give creative and innovative business direction. They just follow typical business model from book.

thats why i m not even considering touching parkson, since i see no end-of-the-tunnel for good profits.

one of the first lessons i learn in punting is never catch a falling knife, unless u see a good profit story behind it.

however, i use this lesson with caution now after transmile episode.

transmile was a good falling knife, but only for its major owners.

If I'm WC, I will take it private. Not much to pay if he offered 1.00 - 1.20 for all outstanding shares by him and the lion group. With the Parkson group in net cash position and many assets not yet revalued, it makes business sense to privatise the Malaysian unit since investors do not afford the shares it's fair value. I hope TS William Cheng Heng Jem consider my suggestion. Cheers.

The business turnaround in China is gaining momentum. The last quarterly result was a very positive showing. Watch the share price of Parkson Retail Group closely as it is uptrending for the past 52 weeks and close up 5 sen on Friday @ 1.29. I expect the price recovery of PHB to be swift and fast when it reports profits in the coming quarters. The upcoming June 2017 quarter should be good.
