superb result! reported earnings: RM19mil, add in the impairment loss, earnings is around RM30mil or EPS of 2.6sen! EPS for first half of 2023 will be 4.4 sen, make it to full year which means 8.8 sen, apply PE of 10, TP should be 88sen!

Parkson business strong qtrs are Qtr 1, 2 and 4. Qtr 3 is the weakest as there is not much activity in Malaysia, so, China has to assist. If Parkson can still do well, then the business has definitely turnaround, cheers.

Actuals EPS (Q1'23) = RM 0.0180
Actuals EPS (Q2'23) = RM 0.0168
Forecast EPS (Q3'23) = RM 0.0168 (Conservatively assumed same as previous QR)

PE 7x = RM0.48 (31% upside)
PE 8x = RM0.55 (50% upside)
PE 9x = RM0.62 (69% upside)
PE 10x = RM0.68 (87% upside)
AEON TP by Kenanga PE 15x
For Parkson we discount to below PE 15x

This is one amazing turnaround play. 2QFY23 core EPS (adjusted for impairment) came in at 2.8 sen. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, stock could come in 12M EPS of at least 8 - 10 sen. Ascribing a 7 - 8x PER to Parkson, this stock should be traded at least RM0.56 - RM0.80. AEON is traded at 15x and therefore ascribing a multiple of 7 - 8x is fairly justified IMHO.

Grab them while you can as it is penny stock category at current price levels!

If you are thinking that performance of PHB is bad in Q2 FY2023, I guess that you have not looked into details and analyse performance fairly by removing (1) Special Item; (2) Abnormal or Exceptional Item; (3) Non-Recurring Items; (4) Non-Cash items

You will be impressed that based on analysis,

Normalised Operating Profit Margin

Normalised PBT Margin

Normalised PAT Margin

Normalised EBITDA

for 30 June 2023 are EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD and IMPRESSIVE



Even if you are not convinced with the above, you may refer to Segmental Performace Review, you will be impressed that PHB was doing very well

Retail Revenue in totality is slightly lower than Q1 FY2023 but Retail Profit for Malaysia and China shows improvement.

Significant Improvement in CHINA!



As I have no time to analyse in detail every single ratio or numbers, I had decided to analyse only significant indicators which are more than sufficient for investors to gauge understanding at a glimpse!

I always believe that interpreting FS as an investor, you should exclude all abnormal items and put yourself in a shoe of a buyer of a big business or what you expect a M&A expert in buyer side will do for you!

1. weaker 3Q is expected: weaker, but it won't be a drastic drop, expecting another profitable quarter but lower QoQ

2. even if you're looking at reported earnings, try and calculate how low the PE is. 2 consecutive quarters of profit after so many years show that Parkson has already turnaround, which will trigger a buy action from investor.
