Wonder why ks55 only known stock is Parkson? No knowledge to share. Pity old man who can contribute nothing to society. At least KYY can donate for needy students.
I miss out earlier. You can also buy golf accessories in Parkson not only clothings from Parkson. Many things can be bought in Parkson just like Aeon except food items. So Parkson less than half Aeon price is a bargain now. You can only buy clothings from Padini not other things like Parkson. So cannot compare Parkson 100% like Padini who don't sell cosmetics, toys, stationeries, golf set, etc.
ks55, i think it is very depending on individual spending power and the style of the items individual is looking. sometimes u will find something nice and cheaper yet quality in parkson/isetan compared to other outlet such as Uniqlo... and vice versa. not necessary young will go Uniqlo... to me Uniqlo stlye is even older & not much choice... not to offend just my personal opinion. those store like isetan, parkson or even aeon they have variety of brands/choices from personal fashion up to household items...
Why not ks55 compare Aeon with Padini since he like Uniqlo so much. Why people pay over RM3 for Aeon if he think Aeon only sell clothings like Padini just like what he think on Parkson?
I am also thinking if Parkson close down their stores in China how much cash can they bring back? RM500 million or RM 1 billion? Better use the money to buy Malaysian competitors if landlord in China bring so much trouble.
When we rent someone house it is easier to move out if we are not happy than if we own the house. In Parkson case if the landlord overcharge them they have the choice of moving out or close altogether. Will closing down stores in China make China landlords happier?
That's why bank analysts have to work. The same analysts asking people to buy over RM 2 or even higher(if not how can Parkson reach over RM9 just 2-3 years ago). Buy high sell low can the analysts make money?
If I got time I will proof how Parkson can reach so high price if not because of analysts TP. Why the analysts changed their mind so fast in just few years? Are they credible? Do Parkson business outlook change so fast?
Since ks55 mention TA TP I check their TP is RM2.72 in Jan'15 or more recent in May'15(after latest QR out) is RM 2.19 and the latest RM 1.47. Question is are they credible? Why so many changes in only 6 months? http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/ptg/5657.jsp
Parkson: I can't be saying much for now as I have exited PHB and mere observing it for now. To be honest, PHB is still very weak due to WC and its Lion Group and China's market which is not contributing to any profit growth but lower profit each quarter. This trend has been around since Q1 2013. I don't see any reversal as of now until PHB strategy in China is bearing fruits especially on their re-positioning to be a lifestyle mall, F&B business (which is still insignificant), and closing down of unprofitable malls which will impair more losses. On other hand, Parkson seem to be hit hard on the "tenant-landlord virus" sickness. Unsure if this is due to poor management or just the cunning way China businessmen doing business.
As for SEA, the contribution is still very weak from Malaysia and Vietnam. Indonesia is doing well but still far ahead to replace China's market and Indonesia is facing the weak rupiah which could impact PHB earning in Indonesia. Myanmar is just a single mall and nothing to be shout from there at group level.
Overall my call is to Sell. There are just too much negative news revolve around PHB. And I totally against the Share buy back program as it is not giving back the value to the shareholders at all!
Parkson Holdings Bhd has proposed an internal group reorganisation that will see its Singapore-listed subsidiary Parkson Retail Asia Ltd (PRA) being parked under Hong Kong-listed Parkson Retail Group Ltd (PRG).
Parkson Holdings told Bursa Malaysia that its unit East Crest International Ltd, which owns 67.6% on PRA and 52.7% in PRG, would sell its entire stake in PRA to PRG’s wholly-owned subsidiary Oroleon (Hong Kong) Ltd for S$228.51mil (RM637.65mil).
Parkson Holdings’ effective equity interest in PRA will be diluted from 67.6% to 35.9%, which would result in lower earnings contribution to the Parkson Holdings group going forward.
Parkson Holdings said the proposal was intended to consolidate the retail business of PRA, which has a presence in South-East Asia, with that of PRG, which operates a similar business in China. The PRA group has a network of 67 stores (including one supermarket) in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar, while PRG operates 61 stores in China.
In addition, the proposal will enable Parkson Holdings to raise cash proceeds of SG$228.51mil.
It plans to use the cash proceeds for business expansion, new investment opportunities and/or working capital within two years.
Parkson Holdings said barring any unforeseen circumstances, the proposal was expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year.
Ks55, your hypothesis is based on what WC plan to do and not what the fundamental of PHB? Hence, are u saying that for short term, can put some money into PHB but not for mid to long term?
Upon completion of the proposal, Parkson’s effective equity interest in PRA will be diluted from 67.6% to 35.9% which will results in lower earnings contribution to the PHB Group going forward. For illustrative purposes, the dilution is expected to hit Parkson FY16E net profit by 15-20%.
the cash raised will need to be used for expansion purpose. so far, they announce nothing. so, what is your take? malaysia operation is decreasing q to q.
Looks attractive for the value investor. @ks55 is right when one looks at it from that angle - the new investor is getting the shares at a price much lower than many other investors. This was a counter that was at 6.00-plus just a few years ago. It will also be cash rich after the divestment - something like RM1 billion.
The negative part is, a divestment also means not having the asset anymore. Then the technical part - it's on a downtrend and it's not known what the bottom is. May be very near, or there may be a bit more to give up yet. But whatever, this counter is worth keeping in view.
If Parkson is really bad did WC sell any shares during recent downturn? Follow Bursa ruling WC has to announce if he sold any shares but not retailers.
Since Parkson is Hooi no 1 counter let him be judge and not others. He said he known Parkson since the day Parkson hit up to RM 9 which I even don't know until recently. How long hooi know ks55 appear in Parkson thread? Who is more busybody than himself?
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
