vivianontheroad Parkson is not making loss. A loss making company cannot give 10sen dividend.

angelinaloke I afraid hooi is the one selling recently because if one continue to buy one may face margin call selling. Hope hooi can come out to say I am wrong.

10 cent is just a proposal in Q1 2016. Not now and proposal can be scrap off anytime.More like to stabilize the sell down with such uncommitted news. Just wait for Q2 results by end this month. Going to be another sell down as China market is real bad for retails and spending.

Don't be trapped by WC again.

Just don't buy in as WC is hoping so in view of coming results which would be weaker earning. Wait for the results in less than 12 days. Just sit tight and wait.

Previously Adcool are you the one suggesting Parkson paying dividend not carry out share buy back. Now after giving dividend you also said not good. Why? QR? As usual if Parkson can declare EPS around 2 sen consider good enough because Parkson value lie in its cash not earnings. If this proposal(dividend) cannot move price better for Parkson to resume share buy back.

Goodnews. It took PHB management 2.5 years to realize that share buy back won't help to move the price if the group is not growing the profit. Now, they changed the game back to declare cash dividend. In fact, this dividend is not derived from the operation profit but from selling the assets. Hence, in operation, the group has not displayed any improvement and that would continue to pressure its price.

This is in addition of the current weak market in China which would definitely add more salt to the wound. It's better to wait for the results to gauge further on its business operation especially in China.

As highlighted earlier, special dividend is only a proposal and may serve as a gimmick to shadow the weaker earning. Hence, my opinion is not to buy in now.

Parkson sinks into the red in 4Q, declares dividend of 2 cents per share

SINGAPORE (Aug 20): Parkson Retail Asia swung into the red with a net loss of $59.8 million in the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2015, from earnings of $2.9 million a year ago.

The retail group attributes the loss to the incurrence of non-recurring items related to contingent expenses for closure of a store in Hanoi. It also blames the loss on impairment of financial assets in Vietnam as well as on the initial loss-making periods of new stores in their first year of operations.

Revenue declined 14.6% to $84.7 million from $99.2 million a year earlier.
