aeon is now closing all its other businesses, except supermarkets, the losses from these can't be covered back with the higher sales from supermarkets, on top of the higher expenses spent on frequent disinfection n cleaning

Q1 result that was buffered with CNY festive sales is already this ugly, cant even imagine how bad the figures are gonna look like in Q2
obviously the better sales from supermarket segment cant save their other biz segments

Problem is not just about how the current conditions are affecting retail sector and malls.

Problem is do you understand Japanese culture? Have you dealt business with them before? They will always deal with Japanese first. and their costs will always be high. why? because they care about Japanese-Japanese relationship, so pricing comes second.

Any benefits, always benefit Japanese first. In times of crisis, especially if it happens in Japan, you will see the JPY strengthen. Why? because Japs from all over the world including Jap companies will repatriate and pay high dividend back to Japan to support their economy and their Japanese. They make less here nevermind, most important they make more back in Japan, so that Japan government can make more in Tax also.

a lot of japanese managers has been terminated in march and the supermarket margin is very low.This year raya sales is very bad.Definitely next quarter will suffer hugh losses.

AEON did have a dark history of hosting its own online shopping web for like a year, but suffered from low sales volume that couldnt even cover its high maintenance expenses (like Lam mentioned, coz of pro-Japan culture at whatever costs, despite market able to give better rates), then tutup semua and hide all the news.

Fat margin is to feed fat Japanese executive la. Won't be reflected in company profit. Anyway most of the profit come from property management aka rental, not from grocery.
