LTV has reported the incident to the insurance company. At present, the insurance company and the adjusters are unable to assess the extent and quantum of damages as the rioting is still on going."

the problem now is, the productions are stopped without knowing when to resume due to the riot. Vietnamese cannot differentiate between Taiwan and China. lol

Reference is made to the news appearing on local and international newspapers on 13 May 2013 which reported on the riots in Vietnam arising from the Vietnam and China dispute over the arrival of the deep-sea oil rig close to the Paracel Islands in South China Sea. The Board of Directors of LTHB wish to announce that the riot has spilled over into the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (“VSIP”) where the Company’s subsidiary, Latitude Tree Vietnam Joint Stock Company (“LTV”) is annexed to it. Rioters have entered LTV’s premise/factory at afternoon on Tuesday, 13 May 2014. The Company’s other subsidiary, RK Resources Co Ltd, is not affected as at to-date.

The main office building of LTV has been vandalised, ransacked and looted by the rioters. Some important data, permits, licenses and documents were destroyed or burnt. The rioters attempted to burn LTV’s factory but the fire was put out by LTV’s workers. At present, the production facilities were not affected although all factory workers were forced to go on strike by the rioters. LTV has temporarily stopped its factory operations since yesterday afternoon until further notice. Due to the on-going riot situation, LTHB is unable to ascertain when the production can be resumed. However, LTHB is monitoring the situation closely with the assistance of the Malaysian Consulate officials at Ho Chi Minh City. For safety reasons, LTHB does not allow the Factory Manager of LTV and his team to enter the factory at present. As such, LTHB is unable to ascertain the damages and its financial impact thereon.

All factory buildings, machinery, inventories, office equipment, furniture fittings and ancillary installations are insured against the risk of rioting. LTV has reported the incident to the insurance company. At present, the insurance company and the adjusters are unable to assess the extent and quantum of damages as the rioting is still on going.

Current issue is just temporarily and will be back on track afterward. Countries that have put in such a huge investment will definitely wouldn't take any risk. In addition, It still has bright future in term of products' demand. Stay still while the wave is just temporarily.

worse than expected, lost of important document may further delay the operation... buta!!

My 2 cents opinion.

1) Factory damages will be compensated by the insurance company. No issue here. Only issue is when Latitude will get the payment.

2) Latitude has other factories in Malaysia and Thailand. They will likely ramp up production and clear their inventories in these 2 countries to meet customer demands while waiting for the vietnam side to settle. Every company will definitely have some sort of inventories for a few months. I don't believe Latitude is so powerful in that all their furnitures are sold as soon as they are made. At most, there'll be some delay in fulfilling some of their customers demands.

3) VSIP is a export orientated park. Business will resume in a week or two weeks. Since Vietnam depend very much on companies base here for their GDP, its in their interest to see that VSIP resume production ASAP. As for the important documents etc, the vietnamese government will speed things up because its in their interest to do so.

4) No one can predict what the share price will be. It might rebound or it might drop. If you think this company has a future after this temporary setback, then buy when it hits your price target. If you think this company dies after the vietnam riot (double limit down etc), then, please sell.

5) You don't buy furniture when you feel poor. You buy them when you feel rich or when you have a 2nd house. Global economy recovery is happening atm. And latitude will ride this wave well. :)

Happy investing.

please be reminded that Latitude had been shifting their operations to Vietnam gradually and Vietnam constituted a huge portion of earning. The outlook is very much dependent on the severity of riot.

In manufacturing the main concern is how long does it take to recover the capacity. If building is gone need 9 months, building seems to be safe. Machinery repair 1 month will do, purchase new machinery about 3 months. Not all factory affected. Assume loss of one month for affected factory, total production loss for latitud is probably just 10%. Share price drop of more than 10% would probably be a safe entry point.

1)"Production facilities were not affected"
2)"The Company’s other subsidiary, RK Resources Co Ltd, is not affected"

They even can start the production tomorrow.. see whether they want or not.. Even if the affected subsdiary can't resume the production immediately.. RK Resources Co Ltd & other subsby in other country can cover the order..

Please remember latitud not running the production capacity at 100%.. still long way to go.

Posted by sense maker > 2014-05-14 22:50 | Report Abuse

It is unclear if Latitude purchased business interrutpion insurance policies too, in addition to property all risks. Even if it did, the first loss limit may be high.

This is a political risk which I wrote earlier facing Latitude. China's stance on the oil-rig issue is firm and if this drags on, foreign-owned operations there may suffer to the benefits of local-owned companies.

Fingers cross for shareholders of Latitude.

There is a famous saying " Buy when there is blood on the street"

Posted by sense maker > 2014-05-14 23:03 | Report Abuse

The real risks include strikes and labor likely demand higher wages for work resumption and the contagion effect of this human psychology across wider area cannot be discounted.

Still, Latitude's profitability will likely be very good for Jan-Mar 2014 after its buy-out of its Sg unit recently at a great price.

Posted by Elvin Beh Chun Yen > 2014-05-14 23:16 | Report Abuse

the risk isn't the company's factory disruption as its temporary.

the risk if of public sentiment or shareholder sentiment towards this issue.

Normally common lenglui is brainless, but this lenglui is really have some thought. Even without revenue or net profit for FY14Q4, FY14Q1 - Q3 net profit should be more than current price 2.90. Should hold it after 2014 Christmas peak season.

Latitude's shareholdings are very tightly held with not more than 20% free float. Majority of the shares are held by institutions.

Looking at today's volume of 3,386,700 shares, it cannot be ruled out that some institutions sold today and if their unwinding continue, that will be catastrophic for Latitude in the mid term

Cindylim.. U go and ask around how many retailer bought and sold today for this counter..
If institution sold today.. Then won't bounced back to 2.9 from 2.78 d.. Today closing should be 2.6.. Cause today all retailer panic sell.. Who going to catch instituon knife? Maybe bigger institution

盛传越南政府叫板中国 默许越暴民发泄三天

...this is going to be bad
