I am not a big fan of this stock but my remisier told me his big clientele are all accumulating this. The strange thing is they are selling other stock big time to accumulate this one.

Posted by Jolly Mypet > 2012-06-05 12:55 | Report Abuse

what is so strange about accumulating this stock ? it is even more strange if you do not buy and keep some of it . I am just sharing !

Do you diversify your holdings?

thanks

Don't diversify to too many counters, 2 to 10 is enough

I personally think half in ICap to be managed by Tan Teng Boo and half in Padini is not a bright idea. Any comment from other participants here?

I suppose if we can find 10 good counters or more to buy, by all means invest in all of them.
But that is a problem isnt it. I can only think of 3. One of them is padini.
By the way Hooi, I am a newbie here. What is ICAP?

Eagleis is right. 2 counter is too little. Not too many as it's hard to keep track. A couple in each sector would be ideal provided if you have the means. of course some in cash to take advantage on sell down. Unfortunately easier said than done for me :)

whats wrong to have 2 counters only if they are good ? invest in quality not quantity ...

Posted by Namoyaki Takarajima > 2012-06-07 14:46 | Report Abuse

kenlee, different people different style, different people different brain, what made them to be the same is: they trade at the same market; FBMKLCI.

Warren Buffet can walk into any company to inquire about its business and its financial position and whatnot but we can't. That's why we need to diversify.

Write a coWarren Buffett also said something to the effect to buy a stock that you would be perfectly happy to hold if the market shut down for 10 years. Taking that advise, buying and holding only one or two counters rather than diversifying to many counters would hold water. Except went you day trade or only short term trader

Actually if you look at Warren Buffett holdings in his flagship Co Berkshire - he has many shares in all sectors except maybe tech. He is heavily loaded in consumer though. Sometime back he went big time into transportation by buying Burlington railway and also the oil and gas sector. When the financials crisis hit he loaded into financilas with his regular wells fargo, then Goldman, and recently BOA. He shuns gold but he was a major buyer of Silver early 2000 at 7 bucks. So he is very WELL Diversified. He is so diversified until he bought into BYD the chinese electric car maker!Don't let him fool you into his Noah Ark whatever style - The man claims that he only invest in what he knows but he has many fund managers who seek to diversify to all across sectors to maximise their funds performance.

Sincerely, padini is good stock. But Its only consider good to collect before it split last year and after it split and stand at lower RM1 price...
Now, i am collecting another interested counter which give 50% dividend at lower price...

Buffet is diversified because he has been investing for a long time, and over a period of more than 50 years many many different opportunities has presented to him.
By noah's ark investing, he probably meant diversification for the sake of diversification.
