The upside to high vaxxing rate is that it tends to produce a quick lowering effect on daily infection rate

The downside being, when guys see a quick reduction in daily infection rate, they also get overconfident & overexuberant fast, often too fast for their own good

So, whether sustainable or not sustainable in longer term, would greatly depend on discipline of both the govt & the rakyat

Yep, just as has already been proven in US, UK, Israel, Singapore etc.

While we are now already seeing the earliest daily covid infection rate surges in langkawi due to rapid opening up of travel & tourism sector

A daily covid infection rate of 7,000 for a population of only 32 million is not an indicator of competent covid management at all

It is merely a reflection of a previous much worse level of incompetence now only temporarily mitigated

Posted by VolatileIsMyGold > 2021-10-14 22:50 | Report Abuse

So, better not be lulled into blissful happy delirium so soon about current drop in daily covid cases yet

It might be sustainable, but then again also, it might not

Malaysians are not a uniquely invincible species, so what makes anybody think for even one moment that our experience post-opening up is gonna be any different from those of US, UK, israel, singapore

That's right. All that political bullkrapping about accepting living with covid as an endemic is essentially an admission of failure on their own part by some spineless jelly hearted politicians.

Posted by Maridien2 > Oct 12, 2021 1:22 PM | Report Abuse

Why we must not allow COVID to become endemic in New Zealand

As New Zealand switches from elimination to suppression, those who argue that COVID-19 will become endemic and part of our lives either do not understand or ignore what this would actually mean.

Elimination has always been a tricky word because it implies eradication. But we have only ever eradicated one human disease — smallpox — and are close with several others.

For some, the end of elimination now means we should let the virus spread. But semantics matter less than policy. If we don’t eliminate, we must still aim to contain, mop up, reduce close to zero and thwart this pandemic.

Because we certainly cannot live with endemic SARS-CoV-2

A new wave of COVID-19 in Ukraine began earlier than predicted, Health Minister Viktor Liashko has told the Voice of America.

"Initially, there was a significant increase [in COVID-cases] during the current wave in the western regions, and we thought that what happened in the fall of 2020 and the spring of 2021 would not happen again. But now we see that the situation has already stabilized in the Chernivtsi region, which was the first to 'catch fire' in the new wave. But the eastern and southern regions are reporting more [COVID-19 cases]. In particular, the Kherson region, which went through two waves without leaving the yellow level, did not even move into the orange level. Now it is one of the first that can approach the red level," Liashko said.

How Serbia became the world's latest Covid-19 hotspot

BELGRADE (AFP) - Packed bars, few masks and almost no restrictions - in Serbia it seems the pandemic is over. But it's a cruel illusion, as the Balkan country currently tops the global charts for infection rates.

Despite having a variety of jabs available, the country's vaccination drive stalled after just over 40 per cent of its seven-million population were inoculated.

Serbia has been averaging more than 6,500 cases a day over the past two weeks, according to AFP data, an infection rate of almost 93.5 per 100,000 people - by far the highest in the world.

With the surge in prices for coals and.natural.gas, China allow the power plants to increase tariffs . The cost of mfg in China will go up . Chinese goods will not be cheap anymore. US is facing very high inflation right now.

high vaxxing rate alone not gonna bring covid under control, vaxxing needs to be combined & integrated with restrictions, good healthcare preventive measures & precautions, use of ppe, tight sop etc.

even highly vaxxed singapore struggling hard to manage covid now

vaxxing alone can't do the job, as has been proven by experiences in US, UK, israel, singapore etc.

so called 'living with covid' strategy does not mean simply forgetting that covid still exists & still raging & rampaging

OTOH living with covid means living & working as normal BUT keeping all safety health precautionary preventive measures, stringent restrictions, using appropriate preventive ppe, tight sop etc. to keep covid daily cases at as low level as achievable

Gloves Big 4 are collectively a significant source of tax revenue for govt of Malaysia

Lagi they already donated RM400 million to Malaysian govt last year for fighting covid

So Malaysian govt very sayang sama Gloves Big 4 & will be defending the interests of Gloves Big 4 & also other glove firms in general, including defending their stocks from the indiscriminate attacks & destruction & devastation from RSS shorting gang

Supermx will.soon hold its FY 2021 AGM.
Below was the 5 takeaways from the FY 2020 AGM . Pls note point number 5 。

""The Chairman Mr Cheok said Supermx will balance between seeking growth and rewarding shareholders with dividend.""

Supermx has been paying dividends for the ladt 4 qtrs .

Q1 Final Dividend of 1 for 45 supermx.shares
Q2 Interim Dividend of of 3.8 sen
Q3 Special Dividend of 13 sen
Q4 Special Dividend of 15 sen

We can expect a Final Dividend to be announced wither end of this month or next month.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Here are five things I learned from the 2020 Supermax AGM:

1. Revenue increased by 38.6% year-on-year to RM2.1 billion in 2020 while net profit excluding one-off items improved more than six-fold to RM495.5 million over the same period. The much better performance was on the back of the COVID-19 pandemic where demand for and the average selling prices of gloves both surged. Given the scarcity of raw materials, chairman Albert Cheok expects the average selling price of gloves to further grow by 3% on a monthly basis in the following year.

2. Cheok responded to Minority Shareholder Watch Group (MSWG) that Supermax’s production lines are currently running 24/7 to fulfil the heightened glove demand. The operations are paused for routine maintenance only. The company’s production lines have been booked for almost the entire of 2021. If an order is placed today, it will only be fulfilled in a year’s time.

Supermax is also targeting a dual listing on the Singapore Exchange in at least six months’ time to raise funds and appeal to more regional and global institutional investors.

3. Supermax will spend RM1.2 billion to expand its glove production capacity from 24 billion pieces in 2020 to 36 billion pieces in 2021 and 48 billion pieces in 2022. The plan is rather aggressive as mentioned by MSWG. The additional capacity is to cater to the current backlog. Older production lines will also be revamped to improve their capacity and efficiency.

According to Cheok, there will not be an excess supply because of the new norm; glove usage has surged in both medical and non-medical sectors due to increasing healthcare and hygiene standards. Cheok foresees the level of glove consumption will sustain at elevated levels even after COVID-19 vaccines are commercialised.

4. Supermax ventured into the face mask business in 2020. The company can produce up to 192 million face masks annually. The business is still at an initial stage to build capacity, customer base, and presence. This venture generally targets existing customers who already purchase gloves from the company. The motive behind this venture is to guard Supermax’s brand and improve its relationship with the public and customers, rather than an economic one.

In my opinion, effort is better spent focusing on Supermax’s strength, which is glove manufacturing in this case. The entry barrier of the mask industry is a lot lower than that of the glove industry as it costs a lot less to manufacture masks than gloves.

5. Cheok mentioned that Supermax will balance between seeking growth and rewarding shareholders with dividend. Profits will be allocated for capital expenditure to expand the business, which will ultimately create more long-term shareholder value and increase shareholder dividends.
