In December, it announced that it was looking to bring in a US-developed Covid-19 vaccine by Vaxart Inc to Malaysia and distribute the vaccine here.

Widad Group Bhd, which is collaborating with Rinani Dynamic Sdn Bhd to distribute an oral-based (tablet) Covid-19 vaccine developed by Vaxart Inc in Malaysia, said phase one of the clinical trial has achieved a positive response.

Dataprep Holdings Bhd, whose share price rocketed from 16.5 sen on Feb 11 to RM3.16 within a month, announced today that its subsidiary, Dataprep (M) Sdn Bhd has signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with an IT consulting and services provider company Asia Coding Centre Sdn Bhd for provision of integrated solution technology for Covid-19 screening.

The controlling shareholder of Dataprep is Wardah Communication Sdn Bhd holding a 44.81% stake, while Widad Business Group Sdn Bhd owns a 8.81% stake, according to Bloomberg data.

A whopping 1.06 billion shares in Widad worth RM578.86 million have been traded in off-market deals since November 2020, according to data from Bloomberg.

The number of shares that changed hands is equivalent to 41.6% of the company’s issued share capital of 2.55 billion shares. Meanwhile, the aggregate value of the shares traded is about 39% of the market capitalisation of Widad, which is involved in property and facilities management as well as construction.

Year to date until Jan 19, Widad has seen 411.59 million shares crossed off-market. The value of these shares were transacted for RM239.45 million. This translated into an average transaction price of 58.18 sen.

In December, there were 201.18 million shares worth RM112.17 million, or an average of 55.76 sen per share, changed hands via off-market trades, the Bloomberg data shows.

In November, Widad saw 442.64 million shares worth RM227.23 million, or 51.34 sen per share on average, traded off-market.

Widad Business Group Bhd is partnering with German manufacturer Voith Hydro GmbH & Co KG to seek and bid for hydro projects in Malaysia.

In a statement today, the group said it had entered into a memorandum of collaboration (MoC) with Voith Hydro in order to pave the path for the two organisations to focus on and foster collaboration in mutual beneficial opportunities in Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 19): Widad Group Bhd has completed the acquisition of Serendah Heights Sdn Bhd (SHSB), boosting its order book to RM1.5 billion.

In a statement today, the construction and integrated facilities management company said that SHSB is a concession holder for the development, construction and maintenance of the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) campus in Jasin, Melaka.

SHSB holds the concession agreement via its wholly-owned subsidiary YBK Usahama Sdn Bhd (YBKU), which entered into a concession agreement with the government and UITM in May 2010 to develop the facilities and infrastructure, as well as carry out maintenance works for the campus.

As it stands, YBKU has a remaining concession period of another 13 years ending 2034, totalling approximately RM791 million.
