The Board of Directors (“Board”) of XOX Bhd (“XOX” or the “Company”) wishes to inform that XOX Wallet Sdn Bhd (“XOX Wallet”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, had on 24 August 2020 entered into a Strategic Collaboration Agreement (“Agreement”) with Alipay Labs (Singapore) Pte. Ltd to collaborate in the blockchain-based solutions for a period of 3 years.



Alipay Labs (Singapore) Pte. Ltd is a private limited liability company incorporated in Singapore and is an affiliate company of Ant Group Co., Ltd.



The Agreement shall be effective from 24 August 2020 for a period of 3 years.



The Agreement will not have any effects on the share capital and shareholding structure of the Company and is not expected to have any immediate material effect on the earnings per share, net assets per share and gearing of XOX for the financial year ending 30 September 2020.



Similar to all business entities, the risk factors affecting the execution of the Agreement, including but not limited to business risks such as prudent financial management, changes in political, economic and regulatory conditions. However, the Board will continue to exercise due care in considering the risks associated with the Agreement and will take appropriate measures in planning the successful execution of the Agreement.



The Agreement being incurred in the ordinary course of business, is not subject to the approval of the shareholders.



None of the Directors and/or other major shareholders of the Company and/ or any persons connected to them have any interest, direct or indirect, in relation to the Agreement.



The Board, after due consideration, is of the opinion that the Agreement is in the best interest of the Group.

XOX launched its first prepaid SIM card in January 2009 focusing on Chinese community and launched a Hybrid Plan (Prepaid + Postpaid) in late 2010.

From 2017 to 2019, XOX MOBILE developed and launched ONEXOX Black in 2018 and XOX eSIM in 2019. All new products include XOX MOBILE's feature called #BURNPROOF, whichautomatically carries forward unused data, minutes and SMS and no forfeiting.[9]

In 2018, XOX MOBILE expanded its operation in Indonesia by having a joint venture agreement with Perkumpulan Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), EH Integrated Systems Sdn Bhd and PT Nusantara Digital Telekomunikasi. Allows subscriber to purchase mobile services such as Data, Voice or SMS at additional saving compared to normal retail price with sharing of data, minutes and SMS to any other users of XOX MOBILE, which will not expire as long as the account is active. HONG KONG: Billionaire Richard Li, who broke away from his famous father Li Ka-shing decades ago to build his own business empire, is taking a page out of his dad’s playbook by further expanding outside Hong Kong.

Since last year, the younger Li has stepped up investment in South-East Asia, agreeing to pay US$3bil for a Thai insurance business and extending his insurance operations in Vietnam and Indonesia.

He was part of a bid for a digital-banking permit in Singapore and – most recently – has teamed up with PayPal Holdings Inc co-founder Peter Thiel to establish a US$595mil blank-check firm for acquiring one or more South-East Asian companies.

The moves come at a time of Hong Kong political uncertainty that echoes the late 1980s and 1990s, when Li Ka-shing, Hong Kong’s richest man, began hedging his bets on the city before its handover to China from Britain. The younger Li may have struck out on his own, but he has learned risk management from his father, said Marshall Jen, project director of the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Centre for Family Business.

“He is now taking the experience of what Li Ka-shing did and making it the model of his own business, ” Jen said.

New economy startups faced difficulties succeeding in South-East Asia due to the different languages, cultures, legal environments and consumer habits across the region, said Vincent Lam, chief investment officer of Hong Kong-based VL Asset Management, which has no holdings in Li’s companies. But he added that Li’s knowledge of the region’s consumer appetites and patterns would work in his favour.

Li’s partnership with Thiel stemmed from a casual meeting in Hong Kong in 2015, the people said. Thiel was touring China, where his book “Zero to One” sold well, and connected with well-known entrepreneurs including Li, the people said.

9 players including xox :) There are nine players and several MVNOs eager for a slice of the 5G spectrum.

Besides that, there are others without networks lobbying for a slice of the airwaves because 5G is the technology of the future. Having a good dollop of spectrum will make them rent-seekers having potentially handsome profits.

If you ask the players, they all will say they want more spectrum. It helps them to plan.

What they need for now is a slice of the 700MHz band. That gives them an edge but will it be awarded separately?

Putting out a timeline when the spectrum will be allocated will help players seek funding. It helps investors know if a certain player is in the 5G game at all.

Some tough decisions are needed to see the deserving players get hold of the spectrum and the onus is on the regulator to ensure Malaysia forges ahead in its digital journey and there is ample platform to allow for 5G innovation.

It should, therefore, review its own timeline to bring 5G sooner than later.

Perhaps, bringing it on at the end of 2021 or early 2022 will be a better bet than to delaying it to 2023.
