KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) need to address the environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspect in their business models if they want to be relevant in international trade, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said on Tuesday (Feb 22).
MATRADE chief executive officer Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said globally, governments are setting up ambitious targets on the ongoing climate crisis and Malaysia is also committed to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
"As the trade promotion agency, we had already embarked on the sustainability agenda back in 2018. We have a programme called Sustainability Action Values for Exporters to ensure Malaysian exporters are able to continue exporting their products and services to traditional markets and new markets that need the ESG values to be taken seriously," he said during the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) #iEmPOWER webinar held virtually on Tuesday.
The webinar, titled "Global Trade Outlook 2022 and Beyond", was organised by WIEF Foundation through its WIEF Businesswomen Network.
On global trade, Mohd Mustafa said globalisation needs to be reset to make it equitable, so that entrepreneurs and the SMEs could participate in the global supply chain post-pandemic.
"To do so, we have to look in the areas of sustainability and digitalisation. You must find other options in terms of continuity and in doing so, I think the business community has to really look at digitalisation," he added.
Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) lead advisor for Southeast Asia region Dr Lili Yan Ing said ASEAN should optimise bilateral and regional agreements and cooperation such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to ensure they were being well implemented.
“ASEAN should ensure the RCEP is well implemented to ensure smooth supply chain in the region and the movement of goods, as well as services and capital,” she said, adding that ASEAN should also keep its neutral stance between the United States and China, while also engaging middle powers.
Lili noted that the region should also diversify its import sources, export destinations and explore non-traditional markets.
Pasukhas secures RM77 mil building and external work contract at Jalan Tun Razak
KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 15): Pasukhas Group Bhd (0.115 ) via its unit Pasukhas Sdn Bhd has secured a building and external work contract worth RM77 million from Focus Dynamics Bhd's subsidiary Famous Ambience Sdn Bhd to complete the construction of a commercial smart building at Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.
The three-storey building will have two basement levels and a banquet hall, according to its filing with Bursa Malaysia.
In a separate statement today, the group said the construction is scheduled to be completed entirely by November next year and that it will deploy its team of experts in the field of development, civil engineering, and construction services to ensure that the team adheres to its client’s project timeline.
“The construction industry is starting to pick up pace again with gradual economic recovery, supported by the implementation of various government initiatives and assistance,” said Pasukhas executive director and CEO, Wan Thean Hoe.
The commercial building also houses an underground two-level car park space to address the growing demand for car park spaces in the densely populated area, it said.
Recently, the group highlighted that Pasukhas and partners have also tendered partnership public-private partnership (PPP) project to provide engineering solutions for the construction and operation of a waste treatment plant/waste-to-energy plant (WTE) in Sungai Udang, Melaka.
“With its order book building, and pipelines of projects on the horizon, the group is looking forward to securing further projects in the near future,” it said.

Good123 already here since 2 years ago helping syndicate to promote. Stock from 10 cents drop to 2.5 cents then consolidate + rights issue, now back to 2.5 cents again. So if you invested since 2 years ago, you paper loss 75% before share consolidation, after share consolidation another 90% on top.
LKL family & gang, probably refocus on pasukhas... after pushing up oversea.... no news on oversea's right issue... very likely abandoned the RI to consolidate funds to push pasukhas
masa depan yang cerah dengan banyak projek. short term untung/rugi, tak peduli macam oversea enterprise, dah naik beberapa kali ganda selepas founder jualkan syer majoriti kpd gang & LKL , oversea masih rugi, belum untung tapi sama macam pasukhas tentang potensi masing2
