no one knows how long "temporary" this will be.

CTOS has to prove to BNM that they have the most secured state of art protection of data security against the cyber threat before BNM will allow their operation.

Till then, there is uncertainty how and when things will get moving. Block chain method? sure this takes time to cut in and implement cant happen overnight.

I expect down trend to be continued..

CTOS Assures Customer Data Is Secure In Light Of CCRIS Suspension

Malaysia is reeling on the back of another series of personal data leak news, this time supposedly from one of the government agencies. In order to protect further exposure Bank Negara had stepped in and temporarily suspended access to Credit Control Reference Information System.

However, there should be no concern for users of CTOS, the credit reporting agency has confirmed that its data assets are secure. In efforts to allay fear and peace of mind, the company also announced that dark web monitoring through CTOS SecureID would be available free of charge for one month. They can use the service to check if they data is available on the dark web.

CTOS Group Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Martin said, “We would like to assure the public that as of now, there are no indications that our data assets have been breached. As Malaysia’s leading credit reporting agency, CTOS places paramount importance on cyber security risk and data breach protection, with all data and information in our possession protected with world-class certified data security technology.

“We have made and will continue to make significant investments to ensure that our IT and data security framework, policies, procedures, and systems are benchmarked against Bank Negara Malaysia’s Risk Mgmt in Technology (RMiT) standard and ISO27001, as well as other global standards.”

He went on to explain that as cyber-attacks were becoming more frequent and sophisticated, the company had also stepped up its proactive assessments and processes to protect the integrity of its data.

“Our systems are regularly subjected to comprehensive penetration tests, vulnerability assessment and audits by 3rd party IT security specialist firms to ensure its continued robustness. We are confident that we are well-positioned to defend our data assets against any potential cyber security attacks, which is further affirmed by the fact that there has been zero occurrences of any data breach since our inception in 1990,” he added.

Martin also clarified that Bank Negara Malaysia’s decision to temporarily suspend access to the Central Credit Reference Information System (“CCRIS”) service was applicable to all credit reporting agencies (CRAs), and not just to CTOS. The industry-wide move is a precautionary measure to further protect customers’ information.

@Vmvmvm, let me share my thoughts. I haven't buy in this stock after missed out during IPO where I was queuing at 1.40. Not manage to buy at 1.50 or 1.60 because of busy during that period. Missed the last trip on 20th Aug.

Strength:
- Good relationship with external source of information.
- Good relationship with clients due to good reputation with major institutions.
- Brahmal effect.
- The only listing company in Malaysia on credit provider.
- Majority of shares are on big institution and low float shares outside. 货源归边
- Value added in credit reporting compare to peers.
- Higher Security compare to SDN BHD crediting companies.
- Expanding Thailand business and potential other ASEAN countries.

Threat:
- Didn't disclose the external source in detail, unable to measure the continuity of information supply.
- Do not know when will Brahmal will be selling off his shares life IFCA in the past.
- BNM stop selling CCRIS info to all crediting provider companies PERMANENTLY, including CTOS. Individual can retrieve personal CCRIS from BNM. (this is the highest threat)
- Too dependency on external source of information before value added to customers.

All above is what I can think of, but you decide whether likely or unlikely.
This is the method I used to measure whether worth for me to invest or not. Hope this helps.

@yu_and _Mee really very good analysis you provided. Thank you very much. But about one point you mention, 货源归边 can a double edge sword right When they decided to dump it on Monday.

One more thing I consider positive is that, EPF and PNB are among all the cornerstone investors, so I think government might be able to lift the suspension soon.

Afterall in this market, investors are always irrational, up or down always depends on behaviour of the investors.I think it will hurt my pocket a little more on Monday, but might be worth holding for a few years if I could close my eyes and wait ……………….

Ps:( purely my own personal thought, welcome all advice but pls be kind)

Companies involved with users' online personal data will always be susceptible to hacking or cyber attacks.

Strong companies will recover from hiccups like this and Amazon's share price wasn't badly affected.

For Ctos, a company that has near 70% market share, this will test their resilience and capability in dealing with future data breach, but BNM did not specify root cause nor name Ctos as the cause of the breach.

And you must fully understand the difference between Ccris and Ctos reports before making investment decision regarding this counter. Majority subscribers of Ctos reports are banks, not end users.

why everyone simply conclude the breach is by ctos. the breach was detected at interface between bnm ccris and credit reporting agencies. give them a few days, bnm will plug the leak and move on. If you happen to deal with large organisation, you will know in this digital age security breach and plugging the leak is part of the business. not end of the world. also, you and i selling all our shares will make no difference at all to the price. What we hold is meaningless compared to what being held by the institutional investors. if monday you see PNB, EPF, etc etc dumping the shares than you will know its end of the world for ctos, like serbadinamik. Otherwise, can continue speculate only.
