KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Indonesia will present a final plan to improve its equity position to the Indonesian Ministry of Transport by the end of the month.
This follows the ministry's announcement earlier today that it gave 13 airlines until July 31 to turn their equity position from negative to positive.
AirAsia Indonesia President Director Sunu Widyatmoko, in a statement, thanked the ministry for providing clarification on the steps it was taking towards the affected airlines.
"AirAsia is working out a plan to improve its equity position. We assure that AirAsia Indonesia will never compromise on the safety of our passengers and the quality of our services," he said.
Sunu said AirAsia would continue to maintain the best service quality possible, and to meet the highest global aviation safety standards.
The Indonesian Ministry of Transport said it would provide support to the 13 airlines in improving their equity position.
If the airlines were unable to meet the requirements before the deadline, the ministry said it would review their requests for new route approvals.
The ministry will assist, support, and nurse the airlines until their equity position has improved so that they are able to safeguard the level of services and safety standards expected of them, it added. - BERNAMA
