KUALA LUMPUR: UUE Holdings Bhd's (UUE) wholly-owned subsidiary, Kum Fatt Engineering Sdn Bhd has been awarded two contracts worth a total of RM36.5 million from Komasi Engineering Sdn Bhd.

The contracts entail underground cable installation and commissioning works within the distribution network of Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

In a statement today, UUE, an underground utilities engineering solutions provider, said that the first contract, worth RM22 million, covers the installation, testing, and commissioning of 33 kilovolt (kV) underground cables and accessories for asset development in Terengganu and Kelantan.

"This contract is an extension of the original contract awarded in 2022, bringing the total contract value to RM44 million.

"This contract extension is set to run until October 2025, to be completed in nine months," it said.

Meanwhile, the second contract, worth RM14.5 million, involves the installation, testing, and commissioning of 11kV underground cables and accessories in Johor.

"This contract, a renewal of the original agreement awarded in 2022, raises the total contract value to RM43.6 million and will remain valid until December 2025, with an 11-month completion timeline," the group said.

UUE managing director Datuk Ting Kok Hwa said the contract wins will strengthen the company's position in the high-growth market.

"Our vertical integration strategy, which combines in-house manufacturing of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes with our expertise in underground utilities engineering, particularly in horizontal directional drilling works, provides us with a unique competitive advantage while supporting Malaysia's rapid transition towards a more connected and sustainable future," he said.

Moving forward, Ting said UUE is planning to build a new factory to support its in-house manufacturing of HDPE pipes.

"We remain committed to strengthening our order book by actively pursuing new project opportunities and reinforcing our presence in existing markets," he added.
