YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Menteri Kewangan II telah mengadakan lawatan kerja ke pusat penyelidikan dan pembangunan sektor pembuatan syarikat-syarikat semikonduktor yang membabitkan pelaburan asing dan domestik di Batu Kawan Industrial Park, Kulim HiTech Park dan Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone pada 21 dan 22 Jun 2024.

Lawatan berkenaan memberikan pandangan lebih jelas dalam usaha giat Kerajaan untuk meningkatkan pelaburan bernilai tinggi selaras dengan pelaksanaan Kerangka Ekonomi MADANI.

Pada masa sama, para pemain industri turut berkongsi pandangan dan idea untuk bersama memperkukuh lagi ekosistem semikonduktor tempatan. Dengan meneroka peluang yang disediakan oleh Kerajaan melalui agensi seperti MIDA dan NCIA, perancangan kepada Pelan Induk Perindustrian Baharu 2030 akan dapat dijayakan secara holistik.

Lawatan ini juga seiring dengan pengumuman YAB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Perdana Menteri pada April lalu mengenai Strategi Semikonduktor Nasional (NSS) yang menyasarkan Malaysia menjadi sebuah pusat penyelidikan dan pembangunan global (R&D) untuk semikonduktor.

Selain itu, ke arah menjadikan Malaysia peneraju industri semikonduktor global, faktor-faktor menggalakkan pertumbuhan sektor ini akan terus diperkasakan melalui kerjasama erat antara agensi kerajaan dan sektor swasta untuk mencipta rantaian permintaan yang berdaya tahan dalam menghadapi ketidaktentuan ekonomi global.

Turut mengiringi, YBhg. Dato' Zamzuri Abdul Aziz, Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha Perbendaharaan (Dasar) dan YBrs. Encik John Patrick Antonysamy, Setiausaha Bahagian Cukai.
