KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 21): Facilities and waste management services company AWC Bhd (KL:AWC) has secured a RM30.51 million contract to undertake housekeeping services for the JB Sentral building in Johor Bahru.

The company said the contract, awarded by KCJ Engineering Sdn Bhd, is valid for four years and six months.

With this latest contract, AWC’s order book stands at over RM700 million, while its tender book has exceeded RM1 billion across all business divisions, the company said in a statement on Monday.

This also marks the first contract secured by AWC’s facilities division since January this year, according to AWC group chief executive officer and president Datuk Ahmad Kabeer.

“While the contract size may not seem large, the facilities division remains a cornerstone of our business, and we are confident it will continue to be a vital contributor to our overall growth in the long term,” Ahmad Kabeer said.

JB Sentral is an integrated transportation hub connecting the Johor Bahru City Square Shopping Centre, and is also part of the Southern Integrated Gateway, which is connected to the Johor Bahru Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex.

AWC shares rose half a sen or 0.59% to 85 sen on Monday, valuing the company at RM285.39 million.

Year-to-date, AWC has risen by more than 30% on the back of various contract wins, including construction work related to a data centre project in Rawang awarded by Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd.
