BEIJING : China sanctioned organisations and individuals in the United Kingdom on Friday (March 26) over what it called "lies and disinformation" about Xinjiang, days after Britain imposed sanctions for human rights abuses in the western Chinese region.
The Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement it sanctioned four entities and nine individuals, including lawmakers such as former Conservative Party leader Iain Duncan Smith and the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission, that "maliciously spread lies and disinformation."
Targeted individuals and their immediate family members are prohibited from entering Chinese territory, the ministry said, adding that Chinese citizens and institutions will be prohibited from doing business with them.
The move is a retaliation to a coordinated set of sanctions imposed by the United States, European Union, Britain and Canada against Beijing over what they say are human rights violations against the Uighur Muslim minorities in Xinjiang. Beijing has already applied retaliatory sanctions against the EU that were in line with Friday's announcement.
"China is firmly determined to safeguard its national sovereignty, security and development interests, and warns the UK side not to go further down the wrong path," the Chinese ministry said.
"Otherwise, China will resolutely make further reactions."
The British embassy in China did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
"It's our duty to call out the Chinese Govt's human rights abuse in #HongKong & the genocide of the #Uyghurs," Smith, one of the lawmakers sanctioned by China on Friday, said on Twitter.
"If that brings the anger of China down on me, I'll wear that badge of honour."
Activists and U.N. rights experts say at least 1 million Muslims have been detained in camps in Xinjiang. The activists and some Western politicians accuse China of using torture, forced labour and sterilisations.
China has repeatedly denied all accusations of abuse and says its camps offer vocational training and are needed to fight extremism.
"It seems I am to be sanctioned by the PRC (Chinese) government for speaking the truth about the #Uyghur tragedy in #Xinjiang, and for having a conscience," Jo Smith Finley, a Uighur expert at Newcastle University, said on Twitter.
"Well, so be it. I have no regrets for speaking out, and I will not be silenced."

genocide is what Americans and Germans do in their recent history.............not China.

Religion indoctrination toward religion intorelance and violent, failure to provide education that open mind and allowed people to think critically, failure to eradicate poverty, failure to provide for your family, failure to provide employable skills, failure to create jobs, failure to take care of minority/native should be considered as act of genocide.

ridhuan tee is an amazing guy
in my book, he actually puts many malays to shame with his honest, plain, no punches pulled, call-a-spade-a-spade views about many chinese malaysians
2021-03-28 09:18
I mean, ridhuan tee is actually even more 'malay' than many average malays
2021-03-28 09:20
Thumbs up. great point to shoot down unfair wrong image on China Beijing marginalisation of Uighur community....
quote SSLee..
One of my office mates was a Uighur girl from Urumqi, Xinjiang Province, China.
At first I could not tell she was Uighur, she looked so Chinese.
It was over lunch one day when she casually said that she came from a family of 9 children.
I then asked how this was possible during the One Child policy?
It was then that she told me that this one child policy law NEVER included China’s Ethnic minorities and only then did I know she was Uighur. There are about 66 minority groups in China.
If the CPC (Communist Party of China) was onto Genocide of its over 60 ethnic minorities – why would these minorities have been excluded from the One Child Policy during Mao’s era

Haha,
Tun M tried so hard to prove that he is more Malay than Malay but know what Zahid said about Tun M.
Who is this ridhuan tee compare to Tun M? Is he qualified to join UMNO or Bersatu? LOL
2021-03-28 11:13
ridhuan tee as a chinese malaysian knows full well the mind of the average typical chinese malaysian, so he can call their bluff on anything very easily
2021-03-28 11:25
Know what:
Are Malays welcome people like ridhuan tee (pseudo Malay) who claim "ridhuan tee is actually even more 'malay' than many average malays" with his hidden selfish agenda to qualify for Malay special position or hardworking Chinese Malaysians that pay tax and build economy well-being of Malaysia?
2021-03-28 11:55
during the Japanese Occupation a lot of Chinese actually became even more Japanese than the Japanese.
The Chinese viewed these "Chinese Japanese" as traitors
The Japanese viewed these "Chinese Japanese" as traitors.
Once the Japanese withdrew, The Communist Party of Malaya killed all, each and everyone of these "Chinese Japanese".
wink wink

All converts to Islam portray similar characteristic, that is mocking their roots. LOL. This leads one to think that this is the propaganda by religious authorities pitting a convert to embarrass their own people. Trust me, the people are happier when they left them.
If this is the mentality I have no respect for such a religion.

Dear i3lurker,
During war time people do not have a choice but to do whatever they can to protect their family and to survive. Even Robert Kuok work for Japanese company during the war. After the war if Robert Kuok fall into MCP hand sure he will be killed as traitor.
But during peace time the motive of people like ridhuan, naik, azeez, M.Indira husband and etc are so clear as opportunist to only benefit themselve and not out of love for Malay, Malay culture or Islam.
2021-03-28 13:45
even got malay past leaders work as traitos with Japan during WW2. I'm not going to explicitly say who to avoid sedition. wakaka
2021-03-28 14:15
of course the Japanese never ever considered these Chinese Japanese to be Japanese.
They, these Chinese Japanese might be more Japanese than the real Japanese..
in the end all these fake Dogs begged their masters to take them back to Japan but their Masters used their legs to kick them away.
The Japanese think of these Chinese Japanese as traitors and dogs.

there're a few pakistani staff at the indian restaurant that I go to regularly
2021-03-28 15:50
they're decent guys, hard working also, so let them work la, what's the problem
2021-03-28 15:53
Pork is served in all good specialist Indian Restaurants.
So Pakistani muslims dun eat pork but can serve pork?
2021-03-28 15:55
Indian restaurants that serve a substantial muslim clientele don't serve pork
They even have a Muslim partner & use halal meat
2021-03-28 15:59
good to have growing vibrant arab community in KL also
they breathe some new zest & life into KL economy
2021-03-28 16:00
plus also bring some hawt arab girls for us to see & admire
but no chance at all for y'all non-muslim guys la hu hu hu
2021-03-28 16:03
Good la if like that, if chinese & indian malaysians also patronising malay food outlets
that means malay food is also good
2021-03-28 16:24
actually malay cuisine is at least equally as good as indonesian, thai or vietnamese cuisine
but only, not many malay food entrepreneurs have the confidence & boldness to go big, I mean seriously big
they also not so good in promotion & marketing
2021-03-28 16:25
problem with many malays is that they have this weird attitude of only liking to makan at home & only liking what their bini masak
only liking so called 'bini punya air tangan'
2021-03-28 16:28
that's why malay food entrepreneurs susah sikit mau cari makan la, not like chinese or indian food entrepreneurs

Uyghur History
The Silk Road played a big part in ancient Uyghur history and has a lot to do with shaping who they are.
The Uyghur people are a mixed ethnic group. There were a lot of migrations and invasions in the Kashgar and Tarim Basin areas from about 500 BC onwards because major transport pathways went through the Gansu Corridor, a long broad valley that led to the Yellow River Basin, and the mountain passes around Kashgar. So they are racially partly Han Chinese, Mongolian, Tocharian, and Tiele.
The Tiele were a group of tribes who lived in the region around Lake Baikal and the Yenisei River and spread their domains southwards. They were thought to be descended from the Xiongnu people. They are also called "Gaoche." Gaoche means high cart because the tribes used carts with big wheels for transportation as they moved from place to place. They were herdsmen and raised horses.
Due to the Silk Road trade however, the region of Xinjiang became cosmopolitan. From the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD) to the Tang Dynasty (618–907) eras, traders, merchants and other travellers from around Asia passed through and sometimes settled. The various Persian, Tocharian, Indian, and Chinese influences can be seen in the artwork in the Buddhist caves such as Dunhuang Mogao and Turpan Bezeklik and artifacts that have been discovered.
The Uyghurs were originally Christian, Buddhist, and Manichean (an ancient extinct religion), but Turkic people invaded from the west and gained control about the year 1000 AD. From the year 1000 onwards, the Uyghurs slowly started to become Islamic.

every individual has 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents, 16 great great grandparents & so on & so forth
so, every person, every family, every clan, every tribe, every nation, is all hybrid
no person, no family, no clan, no tribe, no nation, is pure
2021-03-28 17:10
I really dun agree on the pure thingy coz the shit that comes out of people's mouth is "PURE SHIT"
dun believe just hear those pure shit coming out of DumbNo meetings
2021-03-28 17:13
even the xiongnu were not a pure tribe either, nor the yue zhi whom the xiongnu defeated & chased westward
they were both multi-ethnic confederations, so their guys could look like anything from sinitic, mongolic, iranic (e. g. scythian & cimmerian, to europoid (e.g. tocharian) or turkic (e. g. uighur, kazakh)
but their type of guys were all steppe nomads who practised a similar culture & lifestyle,
2021-03-28 17:19
every tribe, every nation, originally ultimately had a multi-ethnic initial genesis
but after a certain long enough period of so called 'dominance' in a certain particular place or region, they might achieve a certain degree of relative stability in physical appearance, then start developing a certain distinct characteristic look

while northern chinese from shanghai & other places in shandong region look far far different different from southern chinese from guangdong region
