Datin Yap began her career in 198 as a staff consultant with Arthur Andersen LLP (now known as Ernst & Young PLT) and subsequently joined KPMG Malaysia (now known as KPMG PLT) from 1999 to 2000 as an audit assistant where she assisted in the completion of specific audit assignments and due diligence reviews. 
In 2000, Datin Yap joined YYC & Co PLT as its audit manager, where she was responsible for supervising and planning of audit works for client companies. In 2015, Datin Yap assumed the position of director and group chief executive officer of YYC Holdings Sdn. Bhd.. 
In this capacity, she holds the responsibilty for making corporate decisions and managing the company's overall strategies and operations.
