oral polio vaccine is effective at targeting upper respiratory viruses. The M.M.R (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) Vaccine has also been shown to have a similar effect.

oral polio vaccine is already at the disposal of the globe with over 1 billion doses readily available with the benefit of being cost effective. Dr. Schmidt added that it is less than 20 cents a dose and, ‘We can vaccinate the entire United States for ‘tens’ of ringgit, rather than billions of dollars and it helps us and all the businesses get back to normal.’

The best evidence is from an OPV clinical trial conducted in the Soviet Union in the 1970s. In the trial, more than 60,000 children received OPV while 25,000 received placebo (sugar water). Unexpectedly, there was a 75 percent reduction in flu cases among the OPV group compared to the placebo group.

Immunised with opv kids who had been exposed to COVID-19 were coming in sick, but they weren’t coughing. They didn’t have severe respiratory distress. Instead, they had sky-high inflammation.....immunological response (strong defense/immunity)

British Prof. Sikora recently claimed that the current Covid-19 pandemic would “burn itself out”.

*His thinking is that if there are more infections than we realize, and that those milder, unrecorded infections result in robust immunity, then this would quickly lead to “herd immunity”, leaving the virus nowhere to go but extinct. Extend this to the world’s population and the virus eradicates itself.

Smart people question why the current coronavirus has brought the world to stand still while a previous deadly coronavirus, SARS, did not. Others have questioned why a vaccine is so urgently needed now to stop the spread of the current coronavirus when a vaccine was never developed for SARS.

Can we please stop talking about a second wave of COVID-19

Lockdown is easing. People are returning to work and shops are lifting their shutters. But we don’t have a vaccine and we’re a long way from achieving herd immunity – so this new-found freedom is tainted with fear: fear of a second wave of infections.

Indeed, people are already talking about a “second wave” hitting China and Iran. But the concept of a second wave is flawed and creates dangerous misconceptions about the pandemic.

The concept of a second wave portrays the pandemic as a force of nature that is beyond our control. But we have evidence from many countries that a strong public health system (consisting of widespread testing, contact tracing, isolation and health support) combined with public participation in safe behaviour (wearing face coverings, keeping physical distance, hand washing) is highly effective at minimising COVID-19 transmission.

We should ‘end up with something’ … but what does that mean?

When the prime minister, Boris Johnson, told a No 10 press briefing that a vaccine was “by no means guaranteed”, his chief scientific adviser, Patrick Vallance, agreed, but added: “I’d be surprised if we didn’t end up with something.” Many scientists share that view.

In all likelihood, a coronavirus vaccine will not be 100% effective.
