Trump ramp up pressure to seek a quick deal in his favour. Unfortunately, China will drag the trade war on. China will suffer some short term pain but as time drags on, the US will suffer from high inflation at a time when it is exiting QE3.
In time to come, China, Russia, Africa etc will probably form the Yuan block n do away with USD when trading among themselves.
All in all, I think we should see a world recession in 2020.

For US and China we can evaluate importation goods in three category according to impact rating to the nation need.
Perhaps, from the US and China's impose list we could conclude whether its soft offense, defense or real revenge.
Not everything share single answer so be mindful to know more about major economic and financial impact.

Dealing fairly with Washington is Trump's way of saying the deal must be in favor of Washington. The current deals are not favorable enough.
