If Qualcomm successfully taking over Intel will be very good for Malaysia, especially the Penang semiconductor industry. We are having Infineon in Kulim producing 200-mm silicon carbide, and Intel manufacturing facilities in Bayan Lepas will come handy in synergy to produce most advance chip outside Taiwan.

In December 2021, Intel committed to a US$7 billion investments in Malaysia over the course of a decade. The investments are mainly to increase the size of its operations in Penang and Kulim, Kedah. This brought the total committed investment in Malaysia by the US chip giant to US$14 billion as of 2032.
