Run to where? So chicken than put money & earn 2.5% interest in bank hahaha! The best time to buy is during bear market. Unless you don't have spare cash to invest. Buy & keep for longterm. Cowards don't makes money.

Banks fall today

Posted by smallbird9 > 2020-04-28 08:08 | Report Abuse

Some sohhai think banks sure safe? All banks suffer profit margin compression, increasing NPL and risks of more defaults. These are already enough to send banking stocks downward. Go google around the web also u can see that more & more banks have cut their dividends payout while some have cancelled dividend altogether.

BNM expected to cut OPR by another 75 basis points — CGS-CIMB

-A+A
KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd said today it expects Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to cut the overnight policy rate (OPR) by another 75 basis points (bps) in anticipation of a contraction in the country’s economy in 2020 and subdued inflation during the year.

CGS-CIMB economists Michelle Chia and Lim Yee Ping wrote in a note that the nation’s monetary policy is likely to become more accommodative and CGS-CIMB expects BNM to reduce the OPR by 50bps this May, followed by a further 25bps cut in the second half of 2020.

Posted by smallbird9 > 2020-04-29 07:31 | Report Abuse

For sure BNM will continue with more OPR cuts to shore up the economy and SMEs. Do u know what OPR reduction means to all banks in Malaysia? That means banks will earn a lot less on interests income. That is just one reason why banks will suffer more.

How about Non Performing Loans (NPL), personal or business mortgage/loan defaults, bank industry's profit margin compression? To add matters worse, banks could reduce dividends or cancelled all dividends to preserve their capitals. Do u not know in Europe they passed the law to forbid banks to give out dividends? In Australia, NAB also does the same. U think Maybank the highest capped listed company in Bursa will not mitigate their own risks which are obvious already? Think carefully.

Money Is Still Pouring Out Of Emerging Markets, Except For China

China’s counterparts — Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa and even Mexico — have not lured investors in, even on the lows.

There will always be investors looking for deals in emerging markets in the middle of a sell-off and a crisis — buy low, sell high, afterall — but judging by fund flow data, the big money is willing to wait this one out.

China’s equity market raked in almost $10 billion of net fund inflows since the beginning of March 2020, according to fund flow data provider EPFR Global in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They are the only stand out.

See the above. Completed and unsold properties hitting RM 41.5 billions! No joke! So Maybank being the largest bank in Malaysia...for sure it has large exposure to the local housing market in loans...be it loans to developers or buyers. That should point to Non Performing Loans are rising among Malaysian banks.

now all people need to pay back the CAR LOAN as from BNM....Thus MAYBANK have largest car loan...so it will give back more income or profit back to MAYBANK....target price rm8.00....

Now is time to buy & keep for 2 years. You won't regret. Is the biggest bank in Malaysia and offered the highest dividend among local banks. The share price are less volatile because many local institutions and government funds support the index by buying MAYBANK shares.

Bank N clears air over HP loans.... highly paid people are rarely understand those poors' situations. Prefer unmerged banking institution those days. Merged creates higher income discrepancies with lesser jobs opportunities including number of ceos, and less options for consumers.

U understand this scenario for the bank loh...!!

Suppose u borrow a conventional loan from the bank for Rm 500k at 4% pa for 30 years. Your instalment is rm 3100 per month and your current outstanding is Rm 300k.

Suppose the bank give u 6 months morotarium u no need service your loan instalment of rm 3100 u will conserve cash of roughly rm 18.6k but then your outstanding loan would have grown to rm 306k bcos of not paying your instalment, after 6 months u continue service your loan again at rm 3100 per month and u will take about slightly about 6 months longer to completely payoff your loan loh...!!

Notice the morotarium is to help u to conserve cash of rm 18.6k and not complete interest waiver for u mah...!!

So the same should applies to hire purchase loan & islamic loan, u must be responsible to payback the bank with cost but without penalty for the extension of loan repayment loh.

U cannot say u do not want to bear the interest cost and the bank cannot charge u penalty interest for delay payment mah...!!
So long as the bank did not charge u higher rate, u should be responsible to pay the bank at the existing interest rates loh...!!

Remember there is no free lunch mah....the bank just help u to conserve cash during the difficult period and help u to tide over....but u must do your part & start paying up after the morotarium

The interest is only a kacang putih of the loan. Don't borrow if you unable to paid back. Nobody force you to borrow. Buy cash or dont buy anything at all. Shame la

With interest rate getting lower, Banking stocks are no longer attractive and their net interest margin gets lower and lower.

Next month BNM will be announcing their interest rates movement.
Stay tune.

Conserve cash to put into stock market? Those are ikan bilis characters. If you have problems paying your bank loan, don't invest. It means those who grumbling about paying interests sound like beggars. You pay what you borrowed.
