This QR is Jan-Mar, which accounts only first phase of MCO. The impact of MCO will probably be shown in the next QR.

Australian coal exporters are facing the risk of tougher restrictions selling into China as government authorities in Beijing direct state-owned power plants to purchase domestic product instead.

The move threatens to add to escalating tensions between Australia and its largest trading partner and follows new customs reforms that analysts fear could lead China to delay cargoes of Australia's most lucrative export, iron ore.

US Senate passes bill to delist Alibaba, Baidu and other Chinese companies from US stock exchanges

The US Senate passed a bill to delist Alibaba, Baidu and other Chinese companies from US stock exchanges, as tensions between US and China flared up once again. The bill seeking to delist Chinese companies was introduced by John Kennedy, a Republican, and Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat. Signalling bipartisan support, the Senate passed the bill unanimously. It would also require companies to certify that they’re not under the control of a foreign government. Shares of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba saw its US-listed shares fall more than 2% after the development.

Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd analyst Tan Ei Leen has lowered Maybank’s FY20 net profit forecast by a whopping 25% to account for a larger degree of net interest margin (NIM) compression in 2020 of 24 basis points (bps).

This took into account the impact of the RM1 billion “modification loss” arising from the hire purchase portfolio and higher net credit cost of 80bps to 89bps in 2020 to 2021, versus 52bps to 55bps previously, on additional provisions for "forward-looking assumptions" of weaker macroeconomic variables, Tan said in a note to investors today.

She has projected Maybank’s net profit at RM4.88 billion in FY20, and RM6.17 billion in FY21, on revenue of RM22.72 billion and RM24.12 billion respectively.

Tan noted that Maybank’s management is undertaking a more conservative provisioning stance, and has set a net credit cost (NCC) guidance of 75bps to 100bps for 2020 while expecting NCC to stay elevated in 2021.

With the group’s dividend expected to come down come down by between 4% and 5.7% in 2020 to 2021, she said there could be risks of downward selling pressure on the stock. The upside risk include lower credit default risks.

Tan has maintained a 'sell’ rating with a lower target price (TP) of RM5.80, based on a P/BV (price-to-book value) target of 0.77 times with a 2021 BVPS (Book value per share) of RM7.51.

Need to think carefully Affin bank already very undervalue with its NTA of rm 4.70, dividend yield 5% pa and PE 6x, very unlikely can drop to Rm 0.75.

At this price valuation very undemanding and attractive.

Hong Kong police fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse thousands of people who rallied on Sunday to protest against Beijing's plan to impose a new national security law on the semi-autonomous city.

In a return of the unrest that roiled Hong Kong last year, crowds thronged the Causeway Bay shopping area in defiance of curbs imposed to contain the coronavirus. Chants of "Hong Kong independence, the only way out" echoed through the streets.

Don't be so optimistic that banks are sure win or profits guaranteed. This pandemic may cause banks to post huge losses and dividend payouts not sustainable

Looking at the bank model....as a bank shareholders, u r safe and very happy loh...!!

Everybody work hard paying for the bank loan 1st mah...!!

After your hardwork u really still cannot pay...the bank sell your assets mah..!!

But after selling your assets, they still go after u for any shortfall loh...!!

U still need to repay the lower balance shortfall with higher interest rates by instalment bcos it is unsecured loan loh...!!

U like this type of business or not leh ??

Warren buffet like this very much mah...!!

Very simple man example based on per customer.

The bank deals with hundreds of thousands if not million.
Calculate the amount of loan outstanding and no guarantee of being fully paid.

It is LA LA land example that those who borrow will abide the rules and be on time with their repayment. If only everyone has integrity, responsibility and honesty, there will be few need for LOANS.

Instead of buying into genting and airasia where there have no income visibility during MCO....or buying into GLOVES where they is rapid runup in share price...it is much better buying into banks loh...!!

The valuation of bank is reasonably cheap loh...!!

REMEMBER THE BANK WILL STILL START to CHARGE U INTEREST WHILE U R CLOSE , ON HOLIDAY OR SLEEPING....INCOME ARE MAKE NON STOP By the bank MAH...!!

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/shares-reach-10week-high-sp-500-eyeing-3000

LONDON/SYDNEY (May 26): World shares forged ahead on Tuesday and commodity markets drove higher as well, as investors disregarded Sino-US tensions to focus on more stimulus in China and a re-opening world economy.

Britain's FTSE and Japan's Nikkei led their regions with 2.2% gains, while US S&P 500 futures cleared the 3,000 level for the first time since early March, when the economic impact of the coronavirus was just becoming clear.

Europe's early spurt saw the STOXX 600 score a near 11-week high. Travel and leisure stocks jumped almost 6% after Spain had said quarantine-free tourism would resume next month.

One of the reasons i invested in Maybank is because it is the “face” of Malaysia gov especially in SEA...usually, gov will do their best and at whatever cost to make the face of the country to look good for foreign investors to come in..
