Yes and the DRP price will be a discount of about 4.5% from the adjusted ex price

@Tollebunsmith, why you prefer to keep the price low? There's not many lots that you can purchase with the DRP at only 21 cents out of 38.4

@Tollebunsmith All my retirement fund is in Maybank now. It was a very difficult decision for me as my favorite stock Astino is going up everyday but Maybank keeps walking on the spot. I just wondered if I have made the right decision

kfliau: IF I WERE YOU: Just understand and accept that market is manipulated and you contribute to the fund managers profit. SO if stock is stagnent ( eg 8.30 for whole year), Fund managers dont make any money. they will sell ata a loss so that you panic and sell low and chanse when the price is going up ( 98% human tendency) So , to beat them , accept that they are manuipulating the price downwards to buy from you and sell when they have upped the price like 5-8% when everybody starts chasing the shares ( you sell to them) which is very hard to do. A div rate of 5-6% wont cover the fat fund managers salary, AND you also got to remember shareslike Astino can be manipulated to show profit for many years and suddenly let you hold tight when they decide to run and u end up losing your capital but shares like PBB and MBB will go to sero or get delisted. In order for you to get the best out of your money is by buying 0% into safe shares and 30% into goreng stocks... so u still have money if goreng stocks go bust and enjoy capital growth when it goes up gila gila ( where you sell off and wait for another round of dips and rises)

Anyway that was my strategy ( proven) and keep cash like 10-20% for market dips ... I 400% cap appriciation and went 95 into MBB & PBB with 5% in potential growth counters and every month or whenever i have dividends, i buy more slowly ( those have grown 4% in 4 months... so i guess i am doing ok... only one counter i have a 16k loss due to founder lying and syndicate doubleup the price,,, i didnt sell and was caught//.. and the price is back to old price.. ( i did topup more than i had in the begining)///// learning to control my greed..... always learning

as long as y ou are doing better than EPF dividend rate you are very successful already ( thats my yardstick). In fact if u do better than FD rate, u are better than the big banks investments managers... so give yourself a big treat.

Sorry was not following on the DRIP dividend news. What's the expected price trend with the AGM coming on 15 April? No more going up before ex-dates?

Should be going up until the AGM

Posted by fightingdragons > 2021-04-13 11:32 | Report Abuse

After AGM downhill? What's the reason for that?

After AGM May retrace a bit, then up again towards ex date. With the new buy calls and impending dividend, There will be genuine retailers coming in

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2021-04-13 11:55 | Report Abuse

If we keep our Maybank shares for another 6 to 7 months, we will also get the interim dividend expected to be at least 20 sen per share and generally paid in October. That means a return of 7% in only 6 to 7 months.

After ex dividend, the price will drop accordingly.....if the current price holds till ex date, after ex it will be below 8

One way is not to look at the price but just focus on the dividend if is it enough for retirement need. It very stressful to see price not moving and others spiking

Big funds want the DRP price to be fixed low....will make sure price close low during these few days.....

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2021-04-13 14:52 | Report Abuse

Just ASB alone will get over 100 million drs shares. Imagine if they can get their shares 20 sen cheaper.

By trying to get 20 cents cheaper, they are forgoing 38.4 cents. Does it make sense? I think more so to make their withdrawal need

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2021-04-13 16:06 | Report Abuse

Now assuming they sell 30 million Maybank shares so that they can get their drs shares 20 sen cheaper. They get 120 million Maybank shares in return. This means a saving of RM 24 million. Which one makes better sense?

u are assuming they sell off to others...

question: How sure are you?

They are selling to each other pakat pakat... so right hand go to left hand... like smaller funds...(less than 5% no need to declare)... then suddenly one day they buy back at inflated price... all pakat pakat among themselves... if nazeeb can do it,,,, so can these people.

Another very disappointing day. Hope they won't press anymore after Ex dividend

Posted by Dividendplayer > 2021-04-13 17:29 | Report Abuse

All this makes sense. One hand sell to other , control the price for their benefit on drp. But out of curiosity, who is their enemy ? If everyone gains from lower drp , what is the resistance?
Last weeks sudden spike to 8.48. Ridiculously buying 21k lots at 8.48 , who ? The bank itself ? Foreign funds? An error in keying price? Who gains from higher or cancelled drp ?

Posted by Dividendplayer > 2021-04-13 17:34 | Report Abuse

Do you think the bank will mess with the likes of ASB , EPF and such. Board representation will not allow this. These funds wouldn't allow anyone to mess with their plans.

The fixing of DRP price is based on average closing price.....and closing price is determined by market forces.....to make the price close low is sap sap sui for BIG funds.

IMF projects Asia's economy to grow 7.6 pct this year, warns of "huge uncertainty"

(Source: Xinhua| 2021-04-13 23:29:38|Editor: huaxia)

WASHINGTON, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Asia's economy is expected to grow by 7.6 percent this year, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Tuesday, while warning of "huge uncertainty" surrounding the projections.

"The pandemic has resulted in unprecedented output losses in the Asia-Pacific region," Jonathan D. Ostry, acting director of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department, said during a virtual news conference.

The pandemic is receding in some countries, elsewhere, "second or third waves of infections are raging," notably in India and some of the ASEAN economies, he noted, referring to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Noting that divergence is multi-dimensional, namely across countries, and within countries across sectors, age groups, gender and skill level, Ostry said a region known for its trademark growth-with-equity model now runs the risk of "entrenching excessive inequality."

For China, growth has been marked up to 8.4 percent this year due to stronger net exports, reflecting higher global growth and the U.S. fiscal stimulus, according to the IMF.

India, meanwhile, has seen a more sizeable upward revision to 12.5 percent on account of continued normalization of its economy and a more growth-friendly fiscal policy, "but the current surge in infections presents a worrisome downside risk," Ostry said.

He noted that there is huge uncertainty surrounding Asia's projections, highlighting downside risks such as setbacks in vaccine rollouts, questions about the potency of the vaccine against new variants of the disease, and a resurgence of the virus.

The changing external environment is also a central driver of risk in the region, given Asia's outward orientation to trade and capital flows, Ostry said.

"If U.S. yields rise faster than markets expect, or if there is miscommunication about future U.S. monetary policy, adverse spillovers through financial channels and capital outflows, as during the 2013 taper tantrum, could present challenges by compromising macro-financial stability," he said.

Noting that trade has been a powerful driver of growth and poverty alleviation in Asia for decades, Ostry said restrictions that impede trade need to be reduced, and the easing of trade and technology tensions and facilitation of digital trade would provide a welcome boost to growth.

still there are a lot of good opportunities to go forward. the board need to think a lot out of political and glc prospect. they need to be independent.
