Stkoay: i have discovered manually changing my average price One question: the drip price will be listed as RM0.00. This no problem. When u get the cash portion of dividend, and u buy more shares, do u adjust the average price manually ( to reflect actual scenario as it should be RM0 as we didnt pump in new money. DO u adjust it or is is it better to leave the average price alone?
Just want sifu opinion.

@tolle...I am lazy to manually calculate my average cost ....but just accept what the system show after the inclusion of DRP shares as my average cost...and the cash dividend as my net dividend, which should be around 3-4% of my cost...which is also quite close to current ASM dividend...so the DRP is my bonus on top of ASM dividend ....haha :)

MBB gives a yield of 3-4% cash dividend and 3-4% DRP shares....

....but ASM now only gives 4% dividend..

....though ASM is fixed price, therefore no risk ...but also no price appreciation.

...but MBB at current level...is only trading at about 11 times PE....got very good potential for capital appreciation.

RHB Investment Bank Research’s analysts Liew Wai Hoong and Fiona maintained an "overweight" call on the banking sector, with their top picks being Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) (TP [target price]: RM10.30), CIMB Group Holdings Bhd (TP: RM5.70) and AMMB Holdings Bhd (TP: RM3.50).

AmInvestment Bank Research’s analyst Kelvin Ong also maintained an "overweight" stance on the banking sector with his top buys on RHB Bank Bhd (TP: RM6.80), Maybank (TP: RM9.90) and CIMB (TP: RM5.80).

stkoay: u are absolutely correct, regarding asm & MBB, i am thinking seriously of dumping asm, but it was very hard to get when i bought it.. even now ocasionally only can get big tickets.. even now. I think that is because the old timers hold tight tight and they are not keen on share market. Some of my friends see it as fixed deposit and seldom sold and they dont play shares, but they have some props ( prop price is stagnant for many yrs already).

@tolle...now that BN is back (ASM is their baby) and economy and market is expected to do better, may be can expect better dividend from ASM from next year onwards....I still keep about 40-45%.

@tolle...based on past record, Bursa only takes 1 to 2 days to give approval. When they apply, I guess DRP price has most likely already been determined.
Announcement of ex date will most likely after obtaining approval from Bursa....probably Tuesday......look at today's trading, there was no "road block".....likely up next week if market is positive.
Cheers....

Langkawi To Welcome Local Tourists As ‘Pilot Project’ Starting 16 September

The government has agreed to open the tourism sector in several destinations under the ‘travel bubble‘ programme based on a list of conditions.
As reported by Utusan Malaysia, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, for a start, Langkawi Island was chosen as a pilot project to be reopened to local tourists on Malaysia Day, 16 September.
“We are pleased to inform that through the meeting, we agreed to open the tourism sector in several destinations under the “travel bubble” programme based on the conditions set. For a start, Langkawi Island has been selected as a pilot project to reopen to local tourists starting 16 September,” he said.
He added that it would not be long before other tourist destinations will also be a part of this project.

“Other tourist destinations will be allowed to operate when the locality vaccination rate reaches 80%,” he said.

@tolle...over here you are the pioneer/sifu...we still need to learn from you.
What I shared is just 2 sen from my observation.
...and I observed from the previous DRP...the closing price on ex date was the same as the closing price on announcement date....meaning during the period, the share price gained 39 sen.

hi stkoay, I noticed that you are investing quite heavily into MBB, maybe only MBB. just wondering but are you planning to diversify to other stocks to spread the risk?

hi jeffchan, last year I bought into Mahsing (average 0.65), CIMB (average 3.49), Genting (average 3.80) and RHB (average 4.52).

I started buying MBB only March this year after most stocks that I follow have rebounded sharply...and I only find value in MBB then, which is low beta, stable and gives one of highest dividend yield.

Recently, I have taken profit on some of the stocks I bought last year and switch the proceed to add MBB.

If you do home work and read their 5 years plan (Target to achieve EPS of more than 100 sen), MBB not only provide a good steady stream of dividend but also very good potential of high capital appreciation in the next few years.

As a long term value investor, MBB is now my No.1 holding.

@stkoay thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. yes did notice MBB has been quite consistent and generous in its dividend compared to PBB which was known previously for its dividend. Guess things have change due to the perhaps overly conservative stance by PBB. MBB definitely one to look out for.

I have narrowed down by portfolio and re-balance to concentrate more banking and utilities like Tenaga. Like MBB, Tenaga dividend policy is also quite attractive too. I am bullish on their prospects given their aggressive approach to meet the ESG goals. currently I am 1:4 ratio of MBB:Tenaga. I am thinking of rebalancing further to 1:2 when opportunity arises.

Did you invest in Tenaga too?

@itrique83 me rich? not even close. not by stkoay's standards at least. far from it.

@stkoay i accumulated Tenaga to average down to 10.05. now toying with possibility of selling some lots to catch MBB after ex date and to pump up a little on Bursa.

FYI.. I looked up some counters that interests me as am now looking at more divi stocks and this is what I found...

Dividend Policy:

Airport N/A
Bursa 75%
CIMB 40%
GenM N/A
Genting N/A
Public Bank 30%
Maybank 40% - 60%
Tenaga 40% - 60%
