Bank stocks may consolidate for a while after recent gain and will probably trade up again after some consolidation and nearer to reporting time,
Most banks are expected to report solid profit and probably higher dividend.

KUALA LUMPUR: The breather on Bursa Malaysia as investors take profits off the table are seen as a healthy development for the market given the recent strong uptrend.

At 9am, the benchmark FBM KLCI was down 1.79 points to 1,449.45, extending the selling from the previous session. Foreign investors ended six days of net inflow yesterday in a sign the market was ready to consolidate after rallying to its highest in five months.

"We opine that the pullback is healthy to allow recent gains to be digested. The lower liners are also experiencing a consolidation with traders opting for the wait-and-see approach ahead of the Malaysia state election," said Malacca Securities Research in a note.

The research firm that there are signs of emerging volatility, which suggests a return to defensive stocks such as healthcare, utilities and REITs.

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 4): Analabs Resources Bhd said it has acquired quoted securities in Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) with an aggregate value of RM21.57 million, which exceeded 5% of the industrial waste recycling services provider’s audited consolidated net assets as of April 30, 2022.

In a bourse filing on Friday (Aug 4), Analabs said the shares were acquired during the period from Dec 21, 2022 to Aug 4, 2023, and was funded by the group’s share margin account.

The group said that the shares were purchased in the open market at prevailing prices as quoted on Bursa Malaysia Securities.

“The acquisitions were carried out with the intention of deriving dividend income and for potential capital gains,” it added.

It's gonna be a more volatile swing in prices in future as more ikan bilis will be playing now. sharks will lay out a bigger net to scope up fried anchovies for lunch and dinner. a lot more casual retail investors will be burn. sure can buy with less monies (RM50) but don't forget with broker fees, how do they sell off the shares without a big gain in price or making loss in sale over transaction price. hope bursa realizes this. Cheapest brokerage charge is RM8 if not mistaken for self trade. how to cover? unless you go through nominees maybe cheaper?

Maybank has crept to RM9.00. Along with Public Bank, these 2 are some stable stocks to hold for the longer term for me.

Banking stocks depend on the country's economic condition. Malaysia is not in great economic shape, but overall, it still possess natural resources & its promising workforce.

Banks are still the preferred place to store money, for many.
