KUALA LUMPUR: The breather on Bursa Malaysia as investors take profits off the table are seen as a healthy development for the market given the recent strong uptrend.

At 9am, the benchmark FBM KLCI was down 1.79 points to 1,449.45, extending the selling from the previous session. Foreign investors ended six days of net inflow yesterday in a sign the market was ready to consolidate after rallying to its highest in five months.

"We opine that the pullback is healthy to allow recent gains to be digested. The lower liners are also experiencing a consolidation with traders opting for the wait-and-see approach ahead of the Malaysia state election," said Malacca Securities Research in a note.

The research firm that there are signs of emerging volatility, which suggests a return to defensive stocks such as healthcare, utilities and REITs.

We want results and that too encouraging ones especially fr rock solid companies. Now l guess all eyes are on the state elections and dividend pay out. If the dividen pay out is low than may as well shift to a higher dividen stock like Alliance Bank, May B or even UOB. Let’s wait and see!

Troy8, also because of fact that PBB's no of shares has ballonned to 20bn shares. Dividends are spread over more shares. Before bonus less shares dividends seems very high. But with extra bonus shares, dividends are spread out on more shares. But growth may be slower now. PBB has to find more profitable areas and grow its Indo China franchise growth with strong profits..

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Bursa Malaysia is expected to rebound amid bargain hunting activities from Monday (Aug 14) driven by improved risk appetite in the market post-election.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd equity research vice-president Thong Pak Leng said the benchmark index is expected to trend sideways with an upside bias within the 1,450 and 1,470 range next week, with immediate resistance at 1,460 and support at 1,440.

"We believe that the trajectory of the FBM KLCI will be significantly influenced by the stability of the domestic political environment.
"Nonetheless, we reckon the possibility of bargain-hunting activities to emerge due to the cheap valuations of local equities,” he told Bernama.

Furthermore, Thong said the Brent crude oil is holding above US$85 per barrel due to the collective efforts by Saudi Arabia and Russia in reducing output.
"From our perspective, this presents a potential opportunity for short-term activity in the oil and gas stocks,” he added.
For the week just-ended, the FBM KLCI moved in a volatile trading pattern with a fair share of influence from the domestic and external factors, including the six state elections, second-quarter corporate earnings announcements, economic data from the United States (US) and China, as well as Moody's credit rating downgrade on US banks.

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the FBM KLCI rose 11.95 points to end the week at 1,457.16 versus 1,445.21 a week earlier…

Bro, stop kidding yourself, my DY alone is 7.34% for Maybank la. A lot of Harimau investors are long term investors who already bought a lot during C19 period. Most entry price is below Rm8 (like mine) or low Rm8s. When they add now, their DY will only rise slowly. Very stable. With high DY and big fat paper gain, whats not to like about Harimau? Only regret? I should have diverse some Harimau to YTL Power (my DY 7.46%, paper gain 153%) to buy more YTLP. If I sold off all my Harimau stocks and pump into YTLP back then, today, I will be sitting on a minimum of a quarter of a million free money.
