Stock operator, only you can answer to your question...

Still struggling to break through the resistant level, need more cash into the pool.

Posted by liew kimguan > 2012-07-12 22:03 | Report Abuse

KC: agree your comment. since the market uncertainty, defensive stock like Digi become more attractive.

Posted by ahmad khan mhammed noordin > 2012-07-12 22:14 | Report Abuse

bro liew. did you have any ideas dg will go to what price after breaking the critical level

Posted by liew kimguan > 2012-07-12 22:21 | Report Abuse

bro ahmad khan, i believe Digi will consolidate between 4.20~4.35. if u want to enter, u may try 4.20~4.25 (reasonable price of enter). but u have to observe 2 more weeks did Digi consolidate between 4.20~4.35. Since in my opinion, if u want to hold long term, Telco sector is a good choice to invest for capital growth and dividend distribution.

sengjinn, my offering is that there are lack of cheap value stocks in the KLSE bourse currently. It would be safe to assume that fund managers are gobbling up good defensive shares like Digi.

the profit taking afer a 21-sens jump today to settle at 4.40 is healthy. it shows a lot of upside potential still.

Its EPF, earlier sell at lower price..how buy back at higher price. Its our money.. why they buy back that high price?

from my post in WCT thread:

Allow me my input from experience with EPF. EPF is somewhat of an enigma in shareplay. You cannot take them and liken to smaller players. You are not comparing apple to apple when you take EPF as point of comparison. EPF is flushed with cash, with cash coming in every month literally. They are in ideal position to play as even one basis point makes a huge difference. That is why they can observe even 2 or 3 sens difference. Their aim is returns and in the event of low returns, they just declare that their investments are low. There is no problem as every month tens of millions are still pouring in. So no doubt they can even sometimes move in and out of the same counter a few times per day. Just notice that and then make enlightened observations.

For the record,EPF and for that matter MOF has some of the top economists and analysts working for them. I know some of them personally before. They are investing mostly for pride to call themselves as top guns in the gamehe

woww... you enlighten me. However, seeing they playing like that also imply to me that they are helping to massage the KLCI points upwards, for the benefits of some party. Plus, they are using our hard earned money. So, a bit sensitive here. lol.

But, thanks for your knowledge sharing, KC Loh.

omgimnoob, whilst one can imply bout massaging the KLCI figures, but a lot of the analysts are doing their job to ensure good yield back to the stakeholders. I think we have to sometimes see it both ways. these are paid professional to do their job, and yet the top bosses may be politically driven to ensure they keep their jobs. at the end, everyone would probably do the same according to Maslow's hierarchical needs.

from records, 2nd quarters will start seeing earning on the upturn for Digi. 3rd & 4th quarters are generally the strongest.

This announcement will be of significance because it will reflect how much Maxis has cut into their market share in the industry. Its still 3rd overall among the telcos, but Digi is placed as a blue chip, indicating importance of its value in the telco segments.

This also means, a good time to collect is when the market corrects, which is wait patiently for the GE .. :) unless you ahve already entered DIGI when it was RM 4.0x ...then its OK .. :)

yes Kilrathi, that would be a good strategy for now!

but i am not sure why everyone is saying that the market should drop after election. Noted that there is a pre-rally currently going on, but if ever it drops, i think its because of overvaluation after the foreign fund managers start selling and not before. As for now, they are on accumulating mode simply because risks in Europe, US and China are too adverse against returns projected.

unless the opposition takes the general election, then the obvious need not be written here :) Uncertainty will reign and everyone who is in key management position linked to the govt will sell to secure their bank account!

Actually, the market will not drop after election. Now if u notice they are pushing the price up, because they need $$$ for GE machinery .. so when GE is announced, they will sell the stocks, to cash out... thisis when the price will drop back ..i anticipate about 10-20% perhaps ? so if you buy in along the rally, it means the price might fall back somewhere before the rally begins ... so for me, i would be on save side.. keep some ..sell most, and hold $$$ .. IF something unforseen happens, and share prices tumbles, we collect ..if nothing happens, we buy back :)

kilrathi, the popular theory that some government "invisible hand" is pushing up the price for GE warchest is not sound! Govt warchest is from selling assets and more recently, listing IPOs. Whilst your assumption of pushing the price up may happen nearer the date, but how does the local govt agencies knows when to push up the prices when the election date could still be half year ahead? from my experience, GE is only near when Najib goes for his whirlwind country tour to meet division heads and state chieftains.

As the link shows, its only foreign funds delivering the so called rally, what with billions of funds to invest. Malaysia is actually only a small pond for these big fishes, and in most cases, our political misgivings are only a small part of their overall consideration! yes, it is good that a stable govt maintains, but they also have exit plans if things turns for the worst. With recent liberalization of many cumbersome policies, they saw an attractive returns and safe haven for their investments. at the end, its always about returns for the foreign funds.

Good, in line with expectation that they will give interim dividend.

Digi reported improved growth in data as well as prudent cost management.

Liew kimguan, digi reported top level returns for data and cost management only. The analysts could calculate that for voice segment and probably IDD segments, they may have lost some ground to Maxis. Hence its bad reviews.

To me, I like the higher than expected number of new subscribers and their finishing of the data infrastructures. Data will continue to hold steady for digi. Only concern is if they would raise price as they sstill have a lot of room for price adjustment upwards.

Njue76, keep the faith! :) TP rm8 end of year? Hehe

KC, agree with you. i think we are Digi loyalty shareholder. since this counter very attractive and high expectation for the financial report release.hopefully go higher further in coming soon. cheers......

good to wait for now. don't go in blindly. keep reading and ask questions here in this forum. you will eventually know what and who to ask. above all, do research. a tip to help you start out: try looking for company's annual report for the last 3-5 years at least and see if they have business or not! no business, no earning! no earning, no buy!

my risk tolerance may not be the same, Shirley1. I do take some risk occasionally based on my own logic and research. May not turn out well for you, because i go for small movement of price and you may not! Find out your own risk-reward tolerance first!

Yes KC we are totally different :) I sold my digi when i bought at 2 and sold at 4 and since then it has adjusted and split and you know the rest! but I still got scomi :(! I follow less than 10 person here and now before I buy I looki looki throughly instead of just relying on research report as I'm more long term holder. Like you said to look at the annual reports, quarterly and current enviroment get a feel where the company is heading.

Jeepers, you sold digi at 4 before the share split? Ouch and 40x ouch!

Well, lets start again. Unless Maxis, viber and whatsapp and election rally kills digi, rm5+ may not be far fetched end of the year.

Yes KC but that was sooo long ago - after all I made over 100 % - can't be too greedy right? anyway just my luck the ones that I sold went sky high and the one that I kept went the other way. Used to have Pbank and maxis both sold for good profit at 9+ and 8.50 but of course PB now is like what 14? and before than maxis was taken private at can't remember 13 or 15. Oh well you win some and you lose more :)for me though. but I'm seeing good times ahead.
