Having a contrarian strategy with solid companies like Digi, Mudajaya etc will definitely pay off in the medium term, at the longest. Often, there's a `mini panic' where the stock market would slide and even the solid companies would suffer too. That's where we should come in and buy at bargain prices. Wouldn't have to wait long to make a profit.

@ahpooh10, although i have been in this game long enough to note that sometimes Mr Market may go manic and offer prices you want, but i am of the opinion that to reach below 4.10 looks very difficult now. I suggest you use the following chart from RHB and do your calculation. See https://www.dropbox.com/s/952ru88cx4z1vnc/digi%20report%20card.jpg

The reaction to slide below RM4 was when the CFO indicated to fund managers that Digi was not able to meet the dividend expectation for last quarter. This caused massive selling. When Digi did not capitulate and gave dividend, market rose back again. I have yet to see the next quarter's report to offer further feedback if it will rise or fall again. But for now, it looks like it will be hovering around the 4.17-21 range for a while.

Liew kimguan, ussually when fund analysts received the quarterly report (they usually do, they have already factored in the good news. If it rises, its highly probably its a goodquarter or some positive developments are going to be announced. No hard and fast rule here

Greetings to Mat Cendana, CP The, Namoyaki and many others,

How are you guys doing out there? Especially Mat, I truly appreciate all the advices and messages you posted lastly. I always read it over and over again. You are absolutely correct on the concept as well as the philosophy of investing; if I ever want to be doing ‘ok’ at the market, I need to seriously get my mind-set ‘straight’ before entering the war zone again. I must not be greedy and know where my limits are. As a result, I have been thinking a lot and trying to sort out the balance in between health and living, career and family, money and investment etc. No exact conclusion yet, but the pictures are a lot clearer along the imaginary path of explorations. Mainly just watching the market at the moment, no rush, I figure there are always opportunities for me to make a fortune should I be able to live till age of 80 provided with adequate capital evidently.

As for this couple of weeks I, just got back from a work related conference and will be going out again tomorrow. Quite busy lately; however, I try to pop-in occasionally and read a few lines here and there. There are quite a numbers of humorous postings really crack me up every now and then. Hahahaha…

As I told Mat last time, I still have 350k out of 500k capital in the share market. They are mostly in counters such as Time, XDL, SKPETROL-CB and others plus 140k cash. There are not too bad, I enter a while ago; therefore, still make some if sold. Take SK-CB for instant, bought at $0.185 - 0.190 (500k share), whereas Time and XDL are still a couple of points higher than the current share price respectively. Oh, I just queue 700k unit SK-CB at 0.185 to 0.190 again; you might laugh at me but I was able to get 400k at 0.185 and the rest in 0.190 not too long ago though. With the world market is trending down as hard as it could be for next coming few days, there is a tendency everything might go lower for this week. Well, got to go now, my wife is signaling that kids have school tomorrow and I have a meeting to attend as well. I try not to stress myself too much..hahaha…

p/s. Hi, Mat I just book another house priced at RM 680k 3 days ago (the whole project will be done in 3 years times, the unit I just booked will worth more than 800k 3 years from now. It is very near to the shopping centre, primary and secondary schools, tertiary school, various government agencies all within 1-3 miles radius). I think some property investments are still important in the profile; do you agree? I might sell both if got good offers but most likely will keep and just rent them out.

Take care and Cheers, my friend..

@ingwong - Thanks for this very nice comment. I'm very glad that you have gotten over the previous losses. More importantly, in learning from the mistakes - I was being honest with my previous comment in that you *will* become a better investor/trader in the future. That's because you acknowledge your mistakes, adopt an open mind plus are preparing for your future foray. It's actually hard for many people to do the first especially, in acknowledging one's mistakes. Failure to do so would only lead to more trouble in the future.

There is no real `expert' in this, and that includes myself too, of course. But we can always *try* to learn and be better. I'm happy to note that June has been a good month for me so far so I'm sticking to my basic system. For instance, MRCB and YTL Power - both went down after I bought them 2 months ago. But since I *know* they are good companies, and the prices were lower than their one-year high, I was confident they would recover. So I settled... and waited. True enough, they did and I made profits. Not that much but profits nevertheless. Anything that is higher than fixed deposit and trust funds on an annualised basis is considered as successful.

Anyway, good luck on your house buying. Yes, it is always good to diversify and property often brings in positive returns over time. Provided one doesn't buy at the top end of a housing bubble, of course. If it's in the Klang Valley of KL/PJ, and especially landed property, a buyer will most likely do fine.

Have to go to sleep now - tomorrow is another day at the war zone. The European markets suffered a fall and so is the US right now. BSKL might be affected. But that would also be an opportunity to buy the good counters. Don't worry about missing the action. You are right in that sense - there will *always* be opportunities in the future. The better thing to do is to be prepared first, as what you are doing now. Good luck!

By the way, since you are into warrants, do keep an eye on their expiry dates and terms. I have heard of people who actually aren't aware of this and who thought warrants "are like ordinary shares but cheaper"! Inevitably, they lost most of their money if not all when the dates drew nearer.

Hi! Mat..Thanks for the messages..Just pop in real quick here before anything else. Tomorrow and wendesday..big functions..no time to pop-in till late night I suppose. So far in the account, I have SKPetrol-CB 800k @0.188 average exp 23 DEC 2012 ( when should I sell?). I have only one warrant counter, nothing else though. WTK 1k @1.175, Mulpha 2k @ 0.402, Cnouhua 1K @0.133, Time 160k @0.339 and last but not least XDL 300k @0.251, the balance is in cash. Please kindly inform me when should I run for my life..hohoho..I am thinking of setting them 'free' real soon...during IHH and FVGH week? What do you think?

Ah, this is among the things that I refrain from doing - specifically recommending *what* to buy or/and *when*. I'll never dare to do that when it involves someone else's shares and money:-) You will have to use your own evaluation for that. But what I can say is this - the market is negative today (influenced by Europe and US), so you might not want to do it now. Maybe it's better to wait for the next upswing - this way, you will be selling into strength not weakness. Just my opinion.

I'm getting exasperated with Digi's stubbornness. Had expected it to go down due to the general market, plus Europe, US and other Asian markets. But it refuses to go down! KC Loh is most likely right - that selling pressure where it fell to 4.00 was a one-off event due to some fund managers unloading. What a missed opportunity!

Don't have the guts to buy at its current price. I'm also rather `kedekut' when it comes to this HAHA! But I'm not giving up - there might be some desperate or fearful fund manager out there who just might unload huge volumes. This time, if it's somewhere below 4.10, I'm in.

General election should be after Budget reading at 28 September 2012, so now to 28 Sep, our market is protected by Ah Jib Kor, stronger than any part of the world. So, buyer seller, you decide when to buy or sell. Oh another dividend is coming. Yellow man want to give duit raya already.

Hi! nubhan..sorry to bring this up in your DIGI tread. Since you bring up the DIGI-CK. I bet you know a lot about the warrant. Could you kindly comment a bit about SKPETRO-CB, will it go up to 0.20++ ? The 'mother' seems to have good supports at 2.20. I found out that [OSK], the issuer is dumping the SK-CB, a lot..

Hi Vel and Bro Nama,

so continue buying at 0.180 for SK_CB? Not familiar with SKPETRO-CD though.

I think Monday everything will go..almost. Bro. Namo, your suggestion of meeting-up is definitely a great idea. Currently, I am not in town, working abroad but not too far. A couple hours of flights away..We shall meet if things go ok..I 'belanja' BAkU TEH eh?

SKPETRO-CD has a longer period to expiry,28-02-2013, compared to CB (24-12-2012);
has a lower exercise price of RM1.90 against CB (2.00); though the excercise ratio is higher at 3x compared to CB (2x);

Based on the last traded price of RM2.20 for mother share, CD carries a lower premium of 6.82% vs CB (7.27%);
and sen for sen, CD is lower at 15sen against CB (18sen).

My two-cent worth, CD is a better buy then CB. Trade with caution.

Digi is categorized under one of the blue chip stock and a good defensive stock to hold during market retreat due to its good earning, high dividend and prudent management.

Mavis, there may be weaknesses in Digi currently and that might affect the stock prices in the short term. But if you are holding on for long term in good stocks like Digi, i believe it should not be a problem. Just look out for changes in fundamentals constantly. All the best

Liew, I think i know what you are trying to say. another round of 35 is not possible no doubt. but with an enlarged outstanding stock base, Digi is looking for liquidity. I expect would be around the range of Rm5-8 at most til this year end, if no more bad news about weakening market share is in the offing.
