KLANG: Construction and property developer, WCT Holdings Bhd, is looking to raise more than RM500mil over the next six months via the monetisation of its assets.
WCT chairman Datuk Ahmad Sufian said on Friday the monetisation is aimed at improving the company's cashflow and more importantly, use the proceeds of sales to reduce the net gearing to 0.5 times from 0.8 currently.
However, he was tight-lipped, over providing more details on the process.
"We are still in discussions and planning. We will continue towards monetisation, because we have a lot of assets on our books and it is the right time to do so," he told a media briefing after the AGM.
WCT's pre-tax profit fell to RM25.19mil in the first quarter ended March 31, 2016 (Q1, FY16) from RM42.75mil a year ago. Revenue, however, increased to RM484.96mil from RM351.62mil.
WCT head of corporate and finance, Chong Kian Fah said for this year the company is aiming for a RM10bil construction tender book, of which RM5bil has been submitted, while the another RM5bil is under preparation.
As at March 31, 2016, WCT had an outstanding construction order book of RM4.4bil as well as unbilled property sales of RM551mil. - Bernama
After all the reports and briefing, it is clear that no good news in short term. Recovery can only happen in 2017. Better sell and buy paradigm garden.
Its impossible to go down 80 cents la. This is a making money company co. Js the gearing is high like aa. Wct have many valualable assest and prime land expecially the parcel of land in OUG, kl, which to be develop into OUG paradigm mall cum residence, office tower and hotel. The first phases of the residence tower have lauched and book RM 165m booking sale alrdy. WCT may opt to monetize part of the land or opt en bloc sale some of it tower to pare down borrowing.
In addition, another monetize parcel of land is ongoing through JV with UEMS will raise additional RM 190m to be book gain.
The main reason for selloff is belive to be cause by knee jerk effect after briefting as mangement hindted one of the option aside monetize assest and dual listing constuction and REITS is through private placement to fast pare down borrowing. This is due to failure of previous expire WCT WC poor conversion rate.....only about 30% of these warrant manage to convert at RM 1.56.....and mainly converted by stake under major shareholder .....therefore, shortfall of intended capital raise from wc prompted management may opt for private placemnt to meet these shortfall target.
Catayst for wct to have V shape recovery will be upcoming award of infra contract.....MRT2, LRT3, Pan Boneo highway, SUKE, DASH, RAPID, TRX, KWP in which WCT target to secure RM 2 billion worth of contract on top of it exsting alrdy boom orderbook more than RM 4 billion.
Therefore, with current depress price slump down excessivly 20% in response to poor q1 result which in turn due to unrealize forex loss and worry of private placement and high gearing.....any positve award project will be serve much waited catayst. In additonal, i will rebound next week after 2 days consecutive selloff....oversold condition must mormalize techincally....epf, lth and kwp, ASB will continue support as these instituial fund are all long term major shareholder of WCT and are all active trade WCT share in the open market
Bear in mind, WCT is specialize in infra work....the construction is WCT major earning contributor....only follow by property development and property investment.
Agreed, technicaly, floor support price is at 1.40, with high possibility to rebound back above RM 1.50....then sideway.....await for next catayst, monetize assest and award of contract....
Kemayan go bust because of largest mall in south east asia build in JB....and got abandon. Now WCT is reviving it under Paradigm Mall. Don't know if it will end up same way like Kemayan faced....ghost mall.

Easy. Look at 2006 it had reached lowest. In 2 years time it climbed to the top at 4. This time also reached to the same condition of 2006. Plus some of headlines news above its business potential is more than before thus it has big possibility of reaching the targetted price. Not all stocks has this type of response same with the time.

Because of WCT current high gearing.....so analyst doubt it may potential private placement
