Bahasa Melayu (BM) faces several challenges in becoming a leading language for science and technology. The development of BM-based scientific literature is slow, limiting access to cutting-edge knowledge. Its global reach is also minimal, with English dominating international scientific communication, leaving BM speakers at a disadvantage in global collaborations. In education, BM struggles with insufficient technical resources, and policy shifts between BM and English have caused inconsistency in science education. Additionally, BM’s adaptation to rapidly evolving technological fields, like AI and nanotechnology, is slow, contributing to a lag in innovation. Lastly, there is a cultural perception that English is superior for technical fields, creating resistance to BM's expansion in these areas. Overcoming these barriers requires systematic efforts in vocabulary development, education reform, and international collaboration.
