SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd's pre-tax profit for the second quarter ended July 31, 2012 rose to RM276.01 million from RM135.41 million in the same period last year.
Revenue increased to RM2.06 billion from RM699.40 million previously.
"The group's revenue and pre-tax profit for current quarter increased by RM1.38 billion (201.8 per cent) and RM191.4 million (226.4 per cent) respectively compared with the preceding quarter," it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.
SapuraKencana attributed the increases to the inclusion of Kencana Petroleum's businesses results subsequent to the merger of SapuraCrest and Kencana Petroleum.
Higher revenue was also recorded by offshore construction and subsea services segment, it said.
The group, which did not recommend any dividend for the current quarter under review, expected to achieve improved results for the financial year ending Jan 31, 2013. -- Bernama
