KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — The Defence Ministry today said that trainees in the proposed new National Service Training Programme will be selected based on their birth year but they are allowed to defer it.

The ministry said if the programme, dubbed PLKN 3.0 is implemented in 2024, only those born in 2007 will be selected.

“If the trainee is unable to attend the programme based on valid reasons, they can apply for deferment,” the ministry said in a statement here.

It explained that the trainee can defer up to the maximum age of 35 years old.

The statement is in response to confusion over the earlier announcement on the reintroduction of the PLKN for those aged between 16 and 35 years old.

The statement was then questioned by some in the public who was curious if everyone aged below 35 are required to attend the PLKN.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan announced on October 9 that PLKN 3.0 will be implemented in three phases.

A total of 13 training centres have been identified for the programme, including the Malaysian Police Training Centre at Jalan Padang Tembak which can accommodate over 4,000 trainees.

A Chinese warplane fired flares in front of a Canadian military helicopter over international waters of the South China Sea last Sunday, an operation that Canadian military officers said was reckless and could have resulted in the downing of the aircraft.

“The risk to a helicopter in that instance is the flares moving into the rotor blades or the engines so this was categorized as both unsafe and non-standard, unprofessional,” said Maj. Rob Millen, air officer aboard the Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Ottawa, the warship from which the Sikorsky Cyclone helicopter was flying.

The incident was the second of two encounters the Ottawa’s helicopter had with Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy J-11 fighter jets over international waters on October 29, which saw the fighters get as close as 100 feet from the helicopter, Millen told CNN in an interview aboard the warship.

North Korea has supplied more than a million missiles to Russia to support its invasion of Ukraine, South Korea's main spy agency has revealed to lawmakers.

North Korea is suspected of sending short-range ballistic, anti-tank and portable anti-air missiles to Russia as well as rifles, rocket launchers, mortars and shells, South Korea's military told local reporters on Thursday.

In a private briefing with lawmakers on Wednesday, South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) said that more than a million artillery shells have been sent to Russia since August via ships and transport planes, AP reported.

So much have been said throughout the Middle East brotherhood countries, but not one of them opened their border to the aggrieved. They only gave lips service.....

People all over the world in support of Gaza/Hamas/Palestinians dare not move a finger, only shouting on the streets and in House of Common/Parliaments.

Such cowards would not dare send a single bullet over to Israel, neither to Palestine.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Opposition federal lawmakers today faulted Dewan Rakyat Speaker and his deputies for making them appear “incompetent” at a press conference held to give Perikatan Nasional members of parliament the platform to defend themselves against public criticism of their performance.

Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin also appeared to suggest the “low quality” label given to his colleagues had likely stemmed from detractors' poor grasp of how the Dewan Rakyat works.

Hamzah alleged the quality of debate in the current sitting up to now is poor because Opposition MPs are prevented from effectively scrutinising Cabinet members, especially during Ministerial Question Time and the dedicated session for questions to be directed to the prime minister.

“I think the sitting procedures must first be understood.

“We noticed on social media people have questioned us and suggest we haven’t done enough to rebut explanations by ministers or the prime minister (effectively).

“We’re not trying to be defensive but the reports that paint us as being ‘schooled’ aren’t the case,” the Larut MP added.

Hezbollah are hitting Israel from the North and could get a slap back anytime when Israel have a little time on their hands, turning a little away from their South side hitting the Gaza.

The turning point might not be Israel nuke Gaza but hitting Lebanon at the north. That would set things off nicely....
