It was only RM8 three years ago. At RM10.66, it has already gained 33.25%. If we include the dividends, then it has already gained around 55% during these three years. A very good return indeed.

@zying - Historically, it get 4-5.5% correction every dividend and rebound. By saying that, it may reverse from 10.50 or 10.30.

@newbie2019, agree.

When global interest rate come down, institution funds looking for return will probably target high dividend large cap blue chips.

US 2 year treasury now yield 3.55
This one at current price still yield 5.7 (based on historical payout)
....when economy improves, can expect higher dividend.

While investors spent time creating wealth, the "no have" looks forward for negative events....

Posted by sorrynaiklorry > 1 month ago | Report Abuse

Based on history, the price has never been able to sustain above 10.00 for more than a year. So it's time to come down now.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 3): Malayan Banking Bhd (KL:MAYBANK) said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with China's Bank of Hangzhou to work together on enhancing cross-border business and advancing digital innovation.

The collaboration between the two banks coincides with the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, said Maybank in a statement on Thursday.

"This partnership aims to facilitate services such as cross-border financing, interbank cooperation within China, and the clearing of Southeast Asian currencies, while also connecting Chinese enterprises to a broader business ecosystem in the region," said the statement.

No need to study long long history....just look at few years ago..
...in 2020 when there was covid, if you have sold then sorry la...
...but if you did the opposite and hold till now, then congratulations to you.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 1 month ago | Report Abuse

In early February 2020, Maybank was still trading at around RM8.50 and CIMB Bank at above RM5. Those who had sold Maybank and CIMB bank then and picked them up respectively at RM7 and RM3 in early November the same year would have gained much more.

“In the end banking is a very good business unless you do dumb things. You get your money extraordinarily cheap and you don't have to do dumb things. But periodically banks do it, and they do it as a flock, like international loans in the 80s. You don't have to be a rocket scientist when your raw material cost is less than 1.5%.”
