PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has cleared YTL Communications Sdn Bhd of any wrongdoing in its probe into the now-defunct RM4 billion 1BestariNet project.

“We wish to announce that we have received confirmation from MACC that it has concluded its investigations and determined that no charges will be pursued against YTL Communications,” YTL Power International Bhd said in a bourse filing today.

Last year, the highest exchange rate last year was RM 4.12 to 1 USD and the lowest was RM 4.80 to 1 USD, and today it is RM 4.50 to 1 USD. So, the Malaysian Ringgit has depreciated by approximately 9.22% against the US Dollar from its highest point last year to today. This is a significant depreciation that can lead to higher inflation, as imported goods become more expensive and affect investor confidence and lead to capital outflows.
