Glomac Bhd plans to launch about RM1bn worth of property projects for its current financial year ending 30 April 2015, aiming to achieve unbilled sales of RM800m during the same period. This is more than the RM700m worth of projects launched last fiscal year, said Glomac MD and CEO Datuk Seri FD Iskandar Mansor. The higher number for projects might be to mitigate the slowdown in the property sector expected with the enforcement of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in April 2015, which FD Iskandar described as a speed break for about six to nine months from the enforcement. "We have done several studies and in some countries like Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, implementation of GST or raising the tax level would cause a rush in property buying at least six months before the implementation date. After the implementation, studies have proven that there would be a slowdown in buying properties for approximately 6-9 months before it stabilises back, he said

Targeting MYR1.0bn worth of new launches and MYR800m new sales. Glomac will be more aggressive in FY15 after deferring some of its launches in FY14 due to the weak sentiment affecting the overall property market in 2HFY14.
Amongst the major launches are Glomac Centro V (GDV: MYR263m) and Plaza Kelana Jaya Phase 4 (GDV: MYR250m). The maiden launch of Saujana KLIA is slated for Jan 2015, which has a GDV of MYR101m for the initial phase.
