Hi TreeTopView, it's been a while since our last chat here. I've been quite busy with work lately, neglected trading a lot. I still can't believe Aeon is holding so strong for the past few months despite the corrections in recovery stocks in general.
It’s okay… We all make mistakes, VCP pattern is something pretty reliable based on my experience with AEON and CIMB so far… Looks like my list of best trading strategies just got a new entry!
Scroll half way down the page to see the last 4 EPS figures, see the anomaly? Yes, the quarter in the red.
If this current upcoming quarter shows an EPS of at least 1.33, then the rolling 4 quarters EPS will be at least 6 cents, as opposed to the current 3.99 cents, because of the negative quarter.
Technically, there could be a case to see the next target area at around 1.60ish using a 2 year chart. Fibonacci numbers back that up with targets of:
I should add to my previous post, hoping for a period of consolidation before taking on that 1.50 level. The quarterly should be out some time between late next week or anytime the following week. An EPS of 1.33 or more for the quarter will equate to annualised EPS (4 quarters) of 6 cents+, so these are the figures I'll be looking for to support this current move and the possibility of further gains.

aeon should back to rm3
********************************************
I think you are being a bit too over optimistic :)
Earnings right now are mainly from the supermarket sector and have been robust, considering the Covid effect, and we can thank their business restructuring for those recent results (last 3 quarters). Eventually their other two sectors, department stores and rental, will add to their earnings but that will take time.
I'm fairly positive about their long tern progress but it will take time for the department stores and rentals to really kick in. Aeon is probably a good 12 month investment play for now.
dragonfruit123, yes I also noticed a weakness in price caused by either genuine selling or the stock being pushed lower. During late Thursday afternoon trading it was evident that either a big seller was introduced or the price was being capped. A bit similar on Friday afternoon too.
Friday after market Quarterly results:
Almost Rm11 million profit. Considering the Covid restrictions during the period it is a good result. I have to be honest and say I was hoping for a bit more than Rm11 million (EPS 0.78 cents) and had targetted an EPS of around 1.33 cents to bring their rolling 4 quarters EPS to 6 cents. That should have supported the recent price moves. With the current results the rolling 4 quarters EPS is now 5.45 cents, compared to 3.99 cents prior to yesterday's results.
Too difficult to say what the Funds will do to the price with these results, however I think my Fib targets of 1.60 and 1.685 will not be achieved on these results.
Still a good buy and hold for future growth with less Covid restrictions, IMO. As always, timing a buy point is the key.
Changes in the Quarterly Profit Before Tax Compared to the Results of the Preceding Quarter, Current Quarter Preceding Quarter Revenue 874,204 1,013,499 (13.7%) Profit from operations 60,686 72,691 (16.5%) Profit before tax 27,999 41,831 (33.1%)
The Company registered a lower revenue by 13.7% to RM874.2 million in current quarter compared with the immediate preceding quarter attributed to closure of stores and malls due to HIDE over and above various MCO directives which resulted in the closure of the Company’s Hardline and Softline divisions. As such, this resulted in the profit before tax of RM28.0 million for the quarter being lower than the immediate preceding quarter of RM41.8 million.
@dragonfruit123 you can try to sell a few lots to the buy queues, they are mostly occupied by foreign IBs recently. Sell-side is mostly local IBs. You can view the counter party in order details to know what IB they used.
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
