The property company is very high tech one. Next time when Ytl power build robots, they might mass produce even faster than Ytl.

Luckily I don't anyhow follow any 'Guru' blindly but rely on my own research and searching for knowledge. Users like @Dragon328 and a few others have been very kind to share their knowledge with the group to which I am sure many like me are very grateful to these forumers. To date my 'paper gain' is 37% - YTLP alone contribute over 600+%. All I want to say is one cannot make all money every counter as we have limited resources to begin with. To those so called experts please keep your investment ideas to yourselves. Many like me will only read up useful info from serious YTLP investors like @Dragon328 and a few others. We treat all other investment advice and ideas as just 'white noise'. Peace

@jeffchan1901, thank you for your confidence in my analysis and in this stock.

The intention of my sharing in the last article last Thursday is to give a full picture of what is to come, from the various subsidiaries of YTL Power, and how the earnings projection may look like for the next few years from my perspective.

You will need to assess the possibility of YTL Power achieving the earnings as projected in my article. But I am confident those numbers will be achieved, after studying most of the recent analysts' reports, some of them were issued after meeting the top management of YTL Power.

I am glad to see that many of the analysts are convinced with the bright earnings outlook of YTL Power and have given a 12-month target price of over RM6.00. Only one or two is still skeptical of the potential of YTLP's AI data centre business.

These analysts have more resources than us retailers and often have access to information faster than us. You should pick those analysts who are non-biased and professional such as Hong Leong, Macquarie, CIMB, CLSA & Ambank. Maybank is biased and in some way conflicted as it is advising YTL Power on the MTO of Ranhill.

You should try to study as many reports as possible and compare with my notes, then come out with own assessment to see if YTL Power at current stage still suits your investment needs.

I always advocate for long term investment to reap the maximum returns. Some real examples recently to illustrate my point:

-Had we taken profit at RM1.30 level (when Singapore introduced TPA last July), we would have missed the subsequent powerful rally to RM2.00
- Had we taken profit at RM2.24 when it hit twice and retreated to RM1.88, we would have again missed out on the subsequent rally to RM2.54 by end of 2023
- Had we taken off profit at RM3.50 when YTLP rallied up by 40% from RM2.54 in 4 days in early Jan 2024, we would have missed out the subsequent push to RM4.20
- Had we taken off profit at RM4.20 level but didn't buy back when it retreated to RM3.60-3.80 level, we would have missed out on the recent rally to RM5.46.

Now I presume many have taken some profit at good prices above RM5.00 to 5.40, you need to assess the possibility of YTL Power scaling new highs again in near future. You will never know what sort of good news may come and when it will be announced.

Based on my earnings projection and if I apply a PER of 12x and 15x, I expect YTL Power share to trade up to:

2024 - EPS of 39 sen x 12-15 = RM4.68 - RM5.86
2025 - EPS of 46 sen x 12-15 = RM5.52 - RM6.90
2026 - EPS of 60 sen x 12-15 = RM7.20 - RM9.00
2027 - EPS of 66 sen x 12-15 = RM7.92 - RM9.90
2028 - EPS of 80 sen x 12-15 = RM9.60 - RM12.00
2032 - EPS of 92 sen x 12-15 = RM11.04 - RM13.80

By 2028, YTLP's earnings will match or surpass Tenaga's numbers, and if the market decides to give a higher PER like 20x to 25x given to Tenaga, then you know how high YTLP share may go.

The share price in the long run will always follow the earnings trend, as earnings increase over the year, the share price will follow.

You can see how the share price of Nvidia has moved in tandem with its earnings. Before Nvidia announced Q1 FY2025 in early May 2024, its share price was hovering around US$900. Just after Nvidia announced the strong Q1 that beat expectations, the share price has since jumped up 26% to as much as US$1,140 per share.

YTL Power share was punished immediately after it announced Q3 FY2024 result that was weaker than Q2 FY24 but stronger than Q3 FY2023. What I can tell you is that Q3 FY2024 was just a temporary setback, given the weakness in PowerSeraya earnings (due to gradual roll over of high margin retails contracts and slightly weaker power demand) was not covered by a rebound in Wessex' and Yes 5G's earnings in time.

Looking forward, I see Q4 FY2024 to be stronger than Q3 FY24 mainly due to expected earnings rebound from Wessex after its 12% water tariff hike since 1st April 2024 and maiden contribution from the 1st phase data centre with SEA Ltd.

Looking further ahead, I see much stronger earnings growth in FY2025 and FY2026 as the AI data centre starts to contribute earnings from early 2025.

I am not sure about you, but I see compelling reasons to hold onto my YTL Power shares to 2028 when I am confident of getting another 100% gain in share price, or to 2032 when I expect to get another 80%-100% gain.

Dragon….i do agree with u. To reap the max benefits, one has ro have the grit to withstand the pressures and to filter the outside noise. Of course, the decision to hold on will rely on our own reseach and the long term prospects of the company. Thus far, i have been setermined to hold on to both ytl and ytlp based on the infors and research done on own and also comparing with other IB’s reports. Least but not last, i would like to thank u and a few comrades for your and their meaningful contributions in this forum… your sharing in this forum and my own research has somehow reaffirm my believe to hold on to this beyond 2026….again a big thank u u!!!

How far does YTLP data centre more profitable than the latest announced DCs by Sime Darby and Mahsing?
Is it because of more efficiency and higher demand of chips made by Nvidia?

Michael Kwok,
I attack you because you talk nonsense in this forum without facts.
No analyst talked bad about YTLpower, you are the only one calling a sell on YTLpower in Malaysia.
dragon328 talked with facts and figures.
Likewise all other sifu in this forum.

I made million from YTLpower and Supermx because I follow my sifu to invest.
I am not a sifu standard, I follow my sifu to invest only.
To be fair, I think my TA and FA knowledges learned from my sifu is better than your standard.

How many do we expect to announce next week.
This week we had seen few property names.. Sime Prop, Mah Sing, UEM Sunrise and Jakel.

Anyone counting how much capacity are we building? Or is this just a game to get share prices rallying?

Crowell noted that demand for traditional data centers might slow as companies seek a balance between public cloud infrastructure and private data storage for privacy and cost reasons.

************
So if data storage gradually moving from traditional data centers to private and enterprises, how would it affect the demand for services from data centers?

Malaysia’s data center market: Growth and challenges

May 30, 2024

The Malaysia data center market is poised for significant growth, with projections indicating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.92 percent from 2023 to 2029. This growth trajectory suggests that the market will expand from US$1.81 billion in 2023 to an estimated US$3.97 billion by 2029, according to a report by ResearchAndMarkets.

Currently, Malaysia hosts around 34 operational colocation data centers, with most being developed to Tier III standards. Notable examples include NTT DATA’s Cyberjaya, which is designed and certified according to these standards by the Uptime Institute. However, Malaysia is also one of the most expensive markets globally for developing data centers, with construction costs ranging between US$8.5 million to US$10 million per megawatt, making it the costliest market in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region after Singapore and Indonesia (Jakarta).

Characteristics of Malaysia’s data center market

Per data from Mordor Intelligence, in 2023, Tier 3 data centers held the majority market share in Malaysia and were projected to be the fastest-growing segment during the forecast period 2017 to 2029.

The Tier 1 and 2 data center segment in Malaysia increased its IT load capacity from 0.59 MW in 2021 to 2.39 MW in 2022 and is expected to reach 3.59 MW by 2029, with a CAGR of 5.99 percent. In contrast, the Tier 3 segment had an IT load capacity of 257.85 MW in 2021 and is forecasted to grow from 457.66 MW in 2022 to 1,379.11 MW by 2029, with a higher CAGR of 17.07 percent. Tier 3 data centers are preferred for their concurrent maintainability, allowing for maintenance without disrupting operations, which is why many telecom operators are focusing on establishing such facilities to prevent operational disturbances.

The development of digital infrastructure, such as data centers, is crucial for enabling 5G applications. Various investors are entering agreements to launch 5G services in Malaysia. For instance, in November 2022, Malaysian telcos Celcom and DiGi merged, forming one of the largest carriers in the country with over 20 million subscribers.

The Tier 4 data center segment is currently stagnant but is expected to see increased opportunities in the future. At present, TelcoHubeXchange and Regal Orion Sdn Bhd are the only companies in Malaysia with Tier 4 certified facilities.

Key players and new entrants

The Malaysian data center industry features several leading colocation operators, such as Bridge Data Centres, NTT DATA, Keppel Data Centres, Vantage Data Centers, VADS, and GDS Services. The market is also seeing the entry of new players, including AirTrunk, Equinix, EdgeConneX, Princeton Digital Group, NEXTDC, and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, indicating a dynamic and competitive landscape.

Strategic developments and outlook

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city, is witnessing substantial industrial development driven by initiatives like the Kuala Lumpur Smart City Master Plan 2020-2025. This plan aims to foster innovations and sustainable development in the city’s industrial infrastructure, focusing on smart digital infrastructure and a smart economy.

Moreover, a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the governments of Malaysia and Singapore aims to jointly develop a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Johor. This collaboration is expected to enhance cross-border movement of people and goods, increase renewable energy adoption, and streamline business regulations.

The forthcoming Sedenak Tech Park in Johor, known for its use of renewable energy, low disaster risk, ample land availability, and skilled talent pool, further bolsters the region’s attractiveness for data center developments.

Conclusion

Google’s US$2 billion investment in Malaysia’s data center and cloud market signifies a broader trend of tech giants recognizing Southeast Asia’s potential as a hub for technological innovation and growth.

With strategic initiatives and substantial investments from leading companies, Malaysia is well-positioned to become a key player in the global digital economy, driving technological advancements and economic development in the region

Water, Power Remain Major Issues for Johor’s Data Centres, Says JB Mayor

Author: edgeinvest | Publish date: Fri, 31 May 2024,

"People are too hyped about data centres nowadays, but the issue in Johor is water and power. Areas with potential for power supply are Pasir Gudang and Kulai," he said during a panel discussion at The Johor Conversations 2024.

Major data centre players such as Nvidia, AirTrunk, GDS International, YTL Power International Bhd (KL:YTLPOWR), and Princeton Digital Group have established their operations in Johor. Additionally, tech giant Microsoft has also purchased land in Kulai from property developer Crescendo Corp Bhd (KL:CRESNDO) to open a data centre.

power issue - Located 30km from Singapore in the Iskandar region of Johor, the YTL Green Data Center Park will be powered by a 500MW solar farm, offering diversity in power and connectivity on a large industrial site, of which 275 acres will be dedicated towards data centre development
water issue - just bought over Ranhill, which owns the water rights in Johor..... once the corruption allegations and any wrong doings are weeded out, next step will be to increase capacity and improve services lastly....
maybe even revive the 1,000-1,400MW combined cycle power plant project that YTLP pulled out in 2014 along with TNB after cronyism direct awarding allegations surfaced.... :-) peace
