SP Setia confident to exceed RM5.5bil sales target

KUALA LUMPUR: Property developer, SP Setia Bhd, is confident of exceeding its sales target of RM5.5bil in new property sales for financial year ending Oct 31, 2013.

Chief executive officer, Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, said currently, the company has thirty-four projects with gross development value (GDV) of RM70bil and unbilled progress sales close to RM9bil.

The company's sales as of June this year were RM4.68bil which were not far from the target for this year, he said: "We have done very well this year. We are two months to closing of financial year, with the figures that we had so far we are confident to achieve more than what we have targeted," he said.

PETALING JAYA: People looking to own a house any time soon will have to pay at least 10% more for their dream home, according to developers.

They said the increase was due to the double whammy that has hit the construction industry – higher costs of building materials resulting from the 20 sen rise in the price of RON95 petrol and diesel and absenteeism among foreign workers because of the nationwide crackdown on illegal immigrants.

Eco World nothing to do with SP Setia, Liew is leaving SP Setia. JB project is related to Salcon, which announced that via its 50% owned subsidiary Nusantara Megajuta Sdn Bhd, it has signed a letter of intent with Eco World Development Sdn Bhd to jointly develop two pieces of land in Johor Baru.

Salcon had acquired the two pieces of land amounting to 51,476 sq m via Nusantara Megajuta for RM99.7mil.

The estimated mixed development project will comprise retail outlets, serviced residents and strata shop-cum-apartments, and is scheduled for launching next year. Leong said he expects the gross development value of the project to be more than RM1bil.

The joint development will entail Eco World Development acquiring 100% shares of Kembar Makmur Sdn Bhd, which owns the remaining 49.99% shares in Nusantara Megajuta.A shareholders agreement with Kembar Makmur is expected to be executed in a month’s time to formalise the agreement.
