Technical Analysis or Candlestick reading is proven useful in Forex Trading. Now they trying to bring this strategy into stock market. Personally I don't think useful but perhaps its good for those who invest in short term.
The Edge this week magazine features MMC news on page 18, super good news on MMC involvement and undertake ship to ship transfer port business at Yan, Kedah
@sandcoffee actually the QR is needed just to catalyst the price to move in the correct direction, delaying another month is not big problem, as long as we investor got holding power to wait for our imminent target price. rebound at yesterday in amid of covid fear is great enough to ease the fear factor as least for a while, preventing it from moving downward while we are waiting for the final catalyst, a good QR
While certain quarters say PTP, MMC’s port division’s main revenue generator, is largely a transshipment port, with 95% of its throughput being transfer cargo, it has to be noted that as much as 70% of Westports throughput comes from transshipment too.
PTP handled 8.03 million TEUs in 2016, according to the Ministry of Transport’s website. Of this almost 94%, or 7.54 million boxes, were transshipment.
94% transshipment (meaning it does not involve our import & export) .........
say you have 3% import and 3% export of the remaining TEUs, even if Malaysia completely lockdown (zero manufacturing for export), it effects about 3% max.
Further more, we will have to import way more to compensate under lockdown
MMC's Deep Value will finally be unlocked in 2021 through the rerating catalysts: 1. YoY exponential profit and market share growth 2. MRT3 contract award (with Gamuda, MMC is the only domestic company with rail expertise and proven track record) 3. Port IPO (whose value is multiple fold ithr current market capitalisation)
The worst performer was Malaysia’s Port Klang, where rollover rates increased 7% year on year to reach 64%, meaning that nearly two of every three boxes handled missed their intended sailing.
If your cargo is rolled because of a carrier issue, the carrier will automatically rescheduled your shipment and place it onto its next-departing vessel. Any extra charges involved will be covered by the carrier.
However, should your cargo get rolled due to missing paperwork or customs problems or failure to comply with certain requirements, you will be charged for the roll over.
Note that roll overs often cost more than the ocean freight price itself.
Avoid transshipments. Containers travelling on routes with transshipments run a much higher risk of getting rolled. First at the port of sail and then at the transshipment ports, however many and wherever there may be.
in my honest opinion, not great enough to cause a gap up / limit up tomorrow, but enough to make sure the price moving in positive direction, slow but steady to reach potential fair value
Mmc's results...: For the financial period ended 31 March 2021, the Group recorded RM1,143.7 million in revenue, a 5.2% increase from RM1,086.8 million reported in the corresponding financial period ended 31 March 2020 due to higher volume handled at Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (“PTP”) and Northport Malaysia Berhad (“NMB”). These were offset by lower work progress from KVMRT-SSP Line, lower passenger and cargo volumes at Senai Airport, and lower volume handled at Penang Port Sdn Bhd (“PPSB”). The Group’s Profit before zakat and taxation increased to RM221.0 million compared with RM114.8 million reported in the corresponding financial period ended 31 March 2020 in line with higher volume handled at PTP and NMB, gain on sublease of land at PTP, and lower finance costs incurred. These were offset by lower contribution from KVMRT-SSP Line, Senai Airport and PPSB, as mentioned above.

It is clear some 'investors' here are actually short-term traders who are chasing after Quarter on Quarter profit growth without an understanding of intrinsic value
The Engineering segment - which consists of Construction projects (MRT2 MMC-Gamuda JV) is lumpy - Engineering EBITDA 4Q20 173mil vs 3Q20 85mil
In addition, MMC displays seasonality in quarterly results. Except for FY2013 (gain on listing of Malakoff) and FY2015 (gain on listing of Gas Malaysia), 4th Qtr ending December results are usually the highest, with the next quarter results (1st Qtr) ending March showing a QoQ decline
satisfied with the port performance as predicted (next qtr will be even better due to Suez canal clearing pent up vessels), only the engineering segment did not turn out as pingdan predicted...if it comes next qtr, it will be a record qtr earnings
Note: 1Q21 has not taken into account amongst others - a) Suez Canal congestion (blockage was only lifted on 29 March 2021) b) Land sales in April 2021
Compared to Westports: - 1) The quarterly performance are inversely related on a QoQ basis - when one is up, the other is down and vice versa: -
another thing I think worth mention is that few weeks of MCO 2.0 also happened at Q1, which shows that MCO won't affect MMC's ports profits. MMC is a company worth to invest while covid is still at peak at our country. While some of the other listed companies suffers huge loss every quarters and have hard time to recover themselves. MMC remains unaffected and still growing
In welcoming the National Security Council’s (MKN) decision to limit the private sector workforce capacity to 60% in an effort to prevent further outbreaks of Covid-19, Wee, however, said delivery of essential goods through airports and ports nationwide to their intended destinations must not be affected or hindered to ensure adequate supply.
“Therefore, I have instructed airport and port authorities as well as operators only to optimise their operational staffing levels to their respective needs to ensure that import and export activities are not adversely affected during the MCO 3.0 period,” he said in a statement today
