(b) Planted forest (forestry assets)
The harvestable volume of planted forest was assessed by an independent specialist and the directors performed the valuation based on this key input during the financial year. The following assumptions were used in the said valuation.

(i) The net selling price, which is defined as the selling price less the costs of transport and harvesting (“cost to sell”). The net selling price is based on management estimates and is influenced by the species, maturity profile and location of timber.

(ii) Mature plantation is estimated to have a harvestable yield of 80 cubic metre per ha whilst for
immature plantation, a harvestable yield of 20 cubic metre per ha is assumed.

(iii) The total harvestable area is estimated based on satellite imagery performed by the independent specialist and supported with sample counts in specific area performed by the management.

May I known when reforestation can to harvest? As AR 2006, reforestation started planting; As AR 2010, 29924 Ha is planted at 2010. Understood that reforestation is 12-15 gestation period. Why reforestation still not in harvest time?

Yes, some of our planted trees have reached maturity stage. We are in the early planning stage where we are assessing the correct strategic entry point to start harvesting cycle as we need to ensure there are sustainable trees supplies that meet the harvesting condition under government's policy to achieve economy of scale.

Or should I just look at Balance sheet (net cash), cash flow, dividend yield and monitor monthly FFB production and CPO price trend to put my money in Jayatiasa?

So who are actually harvesting and selling the log in Jtiasa monthly production report?

Oil palm estates will not dare under-declare to the land and survey department, says Sarawak’s deputy premier.

SIBU: Local councils in Sarawak are expected to gain improved revenue following the revision of the land tax rate which began early this year.

Sarawak deputy premier Dr Sim Kui Hian said the local councils which collect levy from oil palm estates would have the revenue collected on their behalf by the land and survey department.

Sim explained that the task of collecting the levy was given to the department as previously oil palm estates had the tendency to under-declare and the local councils could not do anything about it.

“But now if they under-declare, the department can take action against them which includes taking back the land that the plantation did not declare. I don’t think they want that to happen,” he said at the installation of councillors of the Sibu rural district council.


Sim said plantations used to pay RM1 million per year but now it is about RM10 million per year.

The new tax rate was approved on June 16 last year and came into effect early this year.

The new rate for agricultural land of more than 40.47 hectares (commercial agriculture) is RM30 per hectare where RM25 per hectare is collected as land tax while RM5 is collected as estate levy by the department on behalf of the local councils.

The government is considering a proposal for plantation companies to return 20% of land leased from state governments as a condition for the renewal of their leases.


PUTRAJAYA: A proposal for portions of leased land to be returned to state governments upon the renewal of their leases does not involve industrial or farming land, says deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Yesterday, Zahid said the government is considering a proposal for plantation companies to return 20% of land leased from state governments as a condition for the renewal of their leases.

“(The proposal) does not include industrial and farming plots,” he told reporters at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today.
