The operators obviously pressed down the price, need extra patience to trade this counter, perhaps need more time, will be rewarded if the privatisation plan materialise.

Even if you have $ you can't build hospitals overnight...not in 1 2 3 4 years to attain the scale KPJ has built up.

$1.21-1.25 as reported by the Edge is clearly too low, exercise will fail

Posted by Thinkcarefully > 2021-10-09 16:22 | Report Abuse

Remember, KPJ doesn't own any hospital. All Kpj hospitals owned by Alaqar reits.

Taking listed companies private is nothing new or unusual for Johor Corp. In fact Johor Corp had been very active in taking its listed subsidiaries or companies private. In 2011 it had taken both QSR and KFC private and later on Kulim in 2015.
The market believes that when Johor Corp has mentioned its intention to take KPJ private it was done with real serious intention as now it is the best time to do it. The share price of KPJ was depressed until very recently due to its poor current financial performance thanks to Covid 19 pandemic.

Not worth more than RM1.25 as per the sum they will agree to pay or wipe from the market. So, the good days have just passed last week when it hit RM1.29 - if you didnt sell, it's too late.

Posted by wallstreetrookie > 2021-10-13 11:53 | Report Abuse

Ok then. I gave up on KPJ, every time people short-sell this company. Waste of my time and capital

Posted by Thinkcarefully > 2021-10-13 11:58 | Report Abuse

This is really undervaluation.
I hope minority shareholders will reject the offer

Buying on rumour.Even if true 1.25 represents only a 10% premium and has to wait another 6 months. And may be rejected by minority shareholders. Provided a special dividend is declared to sweeten the deal.

Privatisation is not a done deal.If it fails to materialise the price would fall to back to 1.00

when market is hot about hospitals, there is no need to be worried. even no privatisation price will hold well from all past price actions.

Johor Corp is now in the process of acquiring shares to privatise Damansara Bhd. Is the offer to take KPJ private is comping any time soon? Johor Corp has already declared its intention to take KPJ private just before Covid 19 pandemic.
KPJ owns and operates a very large and strategic set of assets i.e. hospitals.

At the current prices, KPJ is very much undervalued. So nothing to worry about KPJ with or without privatization!

Delay is for accumulation. It's a no loss situation for them knowing they will offer so just buy whatever they can on market now by manipulating the seller and buyer queues and moving it around this range. Yawnz

In 2019, the Hong Leong Group teamed up with US private equity firm, TPG Capital, to acquire Columbia Asia’s South-East Asian operations (inclusive of 17 hospitals and one clinic) for a total consideration of RM5bil

This marked Hong Leong Group’s first foray into the healthcare space, adding that the deal was believed to be valued at an enterprise value/earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EV/Ebitda) multiple of 20-24 times.

More recently, Sunway Bhd had in June this year divested a 16% stake (on a fully-diluted basis) in its healthcare unit to Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, GIC Private Ltd, for RM750mil.

The deal implies an EV/Ebitda multiple of 31 times, a significant premium of 64% and 125% to IHH Healthcare Bhd and KPJ Healthcare Bhd’s EV/Ebitda valuation 19.1 times and 13.9 times, respectively, at the time of announcement.

KPJ Healthcare: as long as 1.06 is support look for 1.3
26 Oct 2021

Alternative scenario: the downside breakout of 1.06 would call for 0.99 and 0.95.

Our pivot point stands at 1.06.

Our preference: as long as 1.06 is support look for 1.3.

Alternative scenario: below 1.06, expect 0.99 and 0.95.

Comment: the RSI is above 50. The MACD is positive and below its signal line. The stock could retrace in the short term. Moreover, the stock is above its 20 and 50 day moving average (respectively at 1.139 and 1.0986).

Supports and resistances:

1.26

1.09

"Khairy launches healthcare travel blueprint to boost Malaysia’s medical tourism post pandemic"
KPJ will definitely benefit from such initiative being the largest operator of Malaysian hospitals with a long track records in running hospital and related services in the country. On top KPJ has hospitals in Indonesia, Thailand and Bangladesh.

EPF which had been disposing KPJ shares most of the time, now turned to buying the shares. KWAP too is accumulating the shares.

EPF continued buying up KPJ shares. Is the proposed privatization of KPJ by Johor Corp coming any time soon after completion of taking Damansara Realty private?

UncleFollower

1,771 posts

Possibly better than that...EPF doesnt buy/ sell on privatisation news. If they are buying they see value at this price which could be better than a privatisation

Dont follow EPF.It buys and sells randomly. Not their money.
EPF was selling millions of KPJ shares few months ago at 1.0x

Yes definitely at current price level KPJ is highly undervalued than is why EPF is accumulating the shares. Privatization would only be a big bonus for EPF!

If you think C19 is the last of the pandemic, you are dreaming.

KPJ has 3,000 beds at a minimum,
take swab tests as a benchmark MYR 200 each
= 600 k at one rollover
Say, humbly an average of 10 days turnover on beds p/month = 6 M

swab tests alone!!! gives a yield of 72 M a year

Why wont they take this private?

Pandemics have a negative impct on KPJ earnings.
Just compare eps for 2019 and 2020.
Look at the whole picture not just a small segment of the business.

14 million esos converted. No wonder heavy selling.
I heard many employees were selling their esos converted shares. This is the last batch of esos due to expire if not converted
