@choysun yes bro. I sold at 9.28 after it reach my cut loss point before it dropped further. my remisier agreed that MBB is a better defensive stock too

I made the call after considering all negativity issues with Tenaga. also consistency of MBB dividend for past years

I will revisit Tenaga later stage when it is less volatile. Also EPF divesting its Tenaga portfolio for more MBB must mean something too right?

Naysayer/snake oil sellertan, the institutions that you mentioned had been allotted over 100 million Maybank shares during a recent drs exercise at RM7.78 a share. It is only logical that they sell some of their allotted shares to pay their unit holders/members.

If also no significant price movement, do like jeffchan1901 does, keep cash and wait for a rainy day.

Shares always cyclical.. some big funds buy in and some big funds exit.

New issue "xxx bank informed that the reason for rejection was that the cheque was "not halal.".

MBB will follow later? If yes, time frame?

Perhaps PBB will cater for that segment.

Loan deferment due to flood + Covid… good luck!

The flood incident only affected very small population. Loan deferment given to the affected one are negligible. Instead, those affected shops and businesses may have to take more loans to rebuild their business.

Not sure about Omicron. But seems like the global market reacted positively to Omicron.

@apple168

Borrowers affected by flood are almost negligible.

Maybank already allow for flood victims to request for payment deferment.

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/upholding-high-standards-trust-trying-times

Gaining trust from stakeholders in these times would be an uphill task for some, but two corporations — Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Sime Darby Property Bhd — have been successful at this. Their efforts to establish a corporate culture of trust have earned them the top two accolades in PwC Malaysia’s 2021 Building Trust Awards, which was held recently.

Maybank was named the winner in the FBM KLCI category — the third time the country’s largest banking group has won this award after past wins in 2019 and at the inaugural awards in 2015. Sime Darby Property was named the winner in the FBM Mid 70 Index category.

On the efforts to build trust going forward, Abdul Farid reiterates there must always be alignment between actions and words. “Walking the talk and communicating the same. Trust cannot be taken for granted or abused — not even for a split second. When we align our actions and words to our mission statement, that serves as a good anchor to guide us forward.

“It is about always doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. As long as this is clear in our minds, everything else that we do will be to accomplish the purpose of protecting and enhancing the organisation as well as our stakeholders.”

This country have 2 currencies. 1 is halal currency, free from alcohol, gambling and riba. Another 1 is non halal currency (alcohol, gambling and riba). ATM machine also got halal if cheque also got halal. Tax also divided into halal and non halal. E Wallet also got 2 currencies, 1 is halal currency and another account is non halal currency. Income earned also divided into halal and non halal. Prize from Jackpot need enter non halal account. If income earned from dividend need enter halal account.

If wanted to buy shares, let say magnum, genm and Heineken with cimb Islamic accounts, is it halal. Is it rejected the transaction for trading the company share in Bursa?

20 years ago, a friend of mine tried to bank in a Genting dividend cheque in to his deceased dad's Maybank islamic account but was rejected. Luckily, his dad still have conventional accounts with other banks.
He told me his dad went to Maybank to open an account but got an islamic account. It was not his choice. Seemingly, the bank seemed to open islamic accounts for all its new customers in its effort to grow its islamic banking. You ask the staff n they just lie and tell you it is the same as conventional accounts.

When bank in cheque, better make sure your recipient bank account is Islamic or conventional one. If no, you bank in a non halal cheque like dividend or prize from genting, magnum or toto, nanti cheque kena rejected.

If can, use all conventional accounts to prevent confusion.
