Although markets are supposedly efficient, it's hard to subscribe to this when extrapolating the latest EPS, the share price at 8.37 is only trading at 5.6++ times.

I think ppl overact on the crack spread, crack spread only one of the general reference to determine the profitability but may not 100% accurate, there are many more other factors to determine the profit, if crack spread really 100% to determine the profitability of the company, why many sifus will miss the forecast on the last qr profit?? Just wonder when petornm announced record profit in Q42016, what is the crack spread for that period?

it's true that crack spread is not the only factor but it is the best proxy to estimate the refining profit margin. like it or not, petronm and HY share price movement in 2H last year was largely driven by the uptrend in crack spread. likewise, when the spread is trending downwards to the level previously, obviously the share price tend to move accordingly
