Those short term traders who didnt sell past two days and today will leave with uncertainty over the weekend as the non farm payroll figure for the US labor market will be published tonite. Consensus are the figure will not be favorable as refiected by dow future and nasdaq future trading at 170 pts down and 250 pts down respectively. If the US blood bath tonite Monday will be water fall for our market. Good luck!

MACC probing YTL over 1BestariNet following fresh complaints, information

The anti-graft agency responds to those questioning the timing of a probe over a project linked to former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

PETALING JAYA: The investigation into YTL Communications Sdn Bhd over the 1BestariNet project was initiated following complaints of alleged corruption, misappropriation and abuse of power, the anti-graft agency said today after the timing of the probe was questioned.

In a statement, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said it had decided to look into the project following a report by the committee on governance, procurement and finance investigation, which was released in August, and the findings by the Public Accounts Committee.

MACC said these two reports highlighted several weaknesses, including low broadband coverage, inadequate infrastructures and poor broadband access in schools.

Public information and complaints indicated that the project failed to deliver the required broadband speeds for effective learning, it said.

It added that the project’s duration was reduced from 15 years to 7.5 years without reducing the contract value, and there are ongoing claims and potential losses that need further investigation.

So the issue of why MACC is probing the matter now despite the project ending in 2019 does not arise as it is our responsibility to investigate upon receiving new information, especially when it comes to government funds, it said.

As such we hope that the public will refrain from speculating on the matter, as corruption, misappropriation and abuse of power are issues on which we cannot compromise.

On Wednesday, it was reported that MACC had raided YTL Communication’s Kuala Lumpur office and a government office as part of an investigation into the payment claims related to the 1BestariNet service tender.

A MACC source said the investigation is centred on claims involving false details related to RM2.7 billion in payments, as well as other criminal elements under the MACC Act 2009.

KLUANG: Former education minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says that he did not take a single sen from the 1BestariNet service tender worth RM4bil, which was awarded to YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YTL) in 2011.

The Perikatan Nasional chairman and Bersatu president added that the matter had been investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) previously.

“It has nothing to do with me. Previously, there was an investigation as someone made a report but the case was investigated and no action was taken.

“I do not know why the matter is being raised again now as during the previous investigation, I was not involved,” he said when met after attending a kenduri rakyat programme held at Kampung Bentong Luar here on Friday (Sept 6).


Muhyiddin, who is also the Pagoh MP, however, added that during the 1BestariNet service tendering period, he was the education minister.

He said that the reason for the 1BestariNet tender was to provide schools throughout Malaysia with access to the Internet.

However, the implementation of the project had issues that Muhyiddin said he knew nothing about.



Muhyiddin claimed that he did not see the contract or the allocation as everything was done by the government through the Finance Ministry at the time.

“I swear I did not take a single sen. It is up to MACC to investigate it as it is their prerogative,” he said, adding that he only knew about the MACC investigation after reading about it in the papers.

On Wednesday (Sept 4), MACC began an investigation into payment claims for the Education Ministry’s 1BestariNet service tender worth RM4bil which was awarded to YTL some 13 years ago.

According to sources, the MACC visited government offices and the YTL Communications Sdn Bhd office in Kuala Lumpur.

Sources said that the focus of the MACC investigation is also aimed at other criminal elements that are subject to the MACC Act 2009.

Meanwhile, MACC Investigation Division senior director, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, when contacted, confirmed that the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He also called on all parties to give the MACC space and time to carry out the investigation without any interference.

Actual numbers: 142,000 jobs created and 4.2% unemployment. It is OK. So, Federal Reserve will only cut interest rate by 0.25% only and not a big 0.50%.

I believe the most prominent investment failure of the YTL group of companies is the Communication /Telekom segment. I was curious so I checked up (since many people are insinuating that YTL made a lot of money from 1BestariNet)

1Bestarinet project was parked under the Comm segment (2011-2019)
To equip all 10,000 primary and secondary national schools across the country with internet (building base stations, communication towers, fiberoptic lines, computers, routers, etc + manpower cost)
Just imagine setting up in rural schools in the middle of nowhere borneo!

MACC highlighted that the tender for 1BestariNet service was originally planned for 15 years involving a contract sum of RM4.07 billion, but was shortened to seven years and six months without any reduction in contract value.

And while the services provided did not achieve the objectives set, MACC said YTL Comms had made several claims against the Education Ministry that require a more thorough investigation to confirm.

MACC said the investigation has so far found that the government has to bear claims worth RM176 million from YTL Comms but the claim information has yet to be confirmed by the government, other than telecommunication substation rental losses for a period of five years from 2019 that is estimated at RM10.8 million......

What!!! YTL complete RM 4 billion contract in 7 year instead of plan 15 year, so efficient meh🤔? After so call completed ibestarnet project ahead of time, still want to claim rental loss from its telco towers..... What a greedy con😠😡
