Should be a good price now to pick up some for long term investment. Maybank relatively stable and provide good dividend yield.

More cuts in M'sia

AmBank Group chief economist Dr Anthony Dass said the possibility of the central bank reducing the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) by another 50 basis points in July remains high.

"The rate cut will provide a much-needed boost for economic recovery amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It will help stabilise the national economy and ensure Penjana's success," he said.

Maybank has problem to breakthru 8.20-8.40. So expect Maybank goes down around 7.30-7.00. If index FBMKLCI break 1448 definitely touch 1,340-1,360. So can expect Maybank to trade below 7.30 at that point. All the best for those who accumulate at 7.60. As for me i would rather wait n b PATIENCE. 7.30 and below just around the corner

As for stock picks, KLCI blue chips like Axiata, Maybank, CIMB, GenM, Genting, Sime, MISC, Topglove and Harta should witness rotational buying interests to aid uptrend resumption ahead of the mid-year window dressing.
Source: HLB research highlight

Time to collect before buying interest switch from gloves and gaming to banks. Also, in 2008-2009, some banks despite having -eps in some quarters, the banking stocks just shot up when the recession ended on March 2009 (after QE started on Nov 2008)

Extension of 6 months fixed bank loan moratorium will surely be carried out especially snap general election is likely called this year. Banks and all GLCs (appointment of know nothing MPs as chairmen) are doing charity work at the expense of shareholders. Votes are primary consideration lah.

@newbie4444

Before you take a new loan, make sure you have enough money in your bank to pay the loan in the event you lose your job. It is also your responsibility to make sure you have an insurance policy to cover any unforeseen circumstances.

Now, can the bank charge you more if they are making losses? Should you pay more interest if you suddenly earn more? No. it is an agreement between 2 parties and whatever happens in between doesn't void or change the agreement to benefit either sides. Period

Directors are legally responsible to look after all shareholders interests, they not there to give free rides to borrowers to gain votes for any political party. If they are not prepared to look after shareholders interests exclusively, then they should in all conscience resign. Come September if Maybank does not pay dividends as per normal I will dump my Maybank shares, as I have recently dumped ABMB for failing to pay its June dividend.

Arthur depends how much capital u have deployed.

If you have overleveraged/ have over exposure, you can always trim instead of let go.

Good thing I bought when it was low 7.5X. This share quite stable and I can close eyes and let the dividends roll in like passive income.

Posted by HumbleFund > 2020-07-03 09:57 | Report Abuse

Same average down by adding 2 days ago. Now seems good.

Portfolio negative 0.50%, recovering slowly but surely!

This is one share that I own that I have no worries. At it's worst it may go down to low 7s but will bounce back up quite fast. When Covid crisis is over, it will be back in the 8-9 range easily. You won't become rich but you know your money is safe and earn the dividends like a good FD.

Banks are always heartless, their stocks will suffer. they are no longer a safe haven for investors. Glove stocks is now the safe haven. In any event, banks deserve less pity since they make massive profits over the years. Cut all their bankers' bonuses and all will be well again. Sickening to read all the cry over the less gains, have you ever heard of a bank making losses? I never thought bankers' service are that good ....mostly a bunch of arrogant salesmen/women. The covid is a good time to correct the situation. Give business to the banks that serve us well. those that inflexible with their terms, guys bring your business elsewhere. refinance your loans - make these banks compete for your business. the choice is us consumers not them.
